PSA do NOT leave key fob on the phone charging pad!

:
2024 CX5 Akera G25
Dont leave the car fob on or close to the phone charging pad in your CX5 of any other car!

The electromagnetic fields from the pad can damage the fob or make it not operate properly.

I have never done it but mate did in his Toyota Prado and was just lucky it wasn’t fried.

The pad doesn't activate unless it detects a capable device. If you put something like the key on it, you'll see a red light vs the normal white or green light.

I must have missed that when I got to section 5:38-42 of the manual. Probably skipped over that bit.

I have now turned it off. Even better, it stayed off when the car was turned off and then restarted. Hopefully it stays off!

My manual only says not to put the car key fob near it when its being used to charge a phone. Mentions not putting other devices and cards near it otherwise.

I don't use mine at all. I find it superheats the phone and the charging is less than ideal. I should turn it off.

I don’t know if this applies to all wireless chargers, because I haven’t used them… but the Mazda owners manual says that before using the Wireless Charger, make sure to back up the data stored on the phone. The data on the phone could be deleted.

I think my 2023 CX5 charger pad is the worst possible charger pad....I have never gotten to work properly on my Iphone14 pro...seems the phone just will not align properly on the pad..i can wiggle it around and the green light will be on for a few seconds then the slightest bump and off it goes....

The performance from the pad on our 2020 Signature was quirky as well. Charging on my iPhone 15PM varied depending the case and how hot the phone got. I'm sure that the presence of that camera bump is not optimal either as having a space between the Mag-safe ring and the pad surface has to degrade efficiency.
