protege5 wheel swap

I'm new... so kill me now! I just read the sticky on wheel swaps and am still confused on proper offsets. Can anyone tell me if stock 17" Mazda3 rims will bolt right on my '02 Protege5. It seems the bolt pattern is the same but the Mazdaspeed had 17"x 7" (or 6.5") with (I think 45" offset) and the Mazda3 is 17" x 7" with at least 50" offset can this be a simple swap or is there no such thing.
P.S. my local Mazda dealer could not answer any of these questions and admitted they just go by the codes and wouldn't even know the offset or bolt pattern??!!! Lucky me

my mazda 6 rims (17x7) with a 60mm offset just BARELY fit. i had to get a wheel alignment cuz they were touching the struts in the rear. i think the msp rims are 55mm offset. i've seen lots of p5's with m3 rims. u should be fine
