Protege5 Rear Door Subwoofer

I don't want to start a subwoofer/midbass debate. I've got a Pioneer component set up front with a 6 3/4" woofer and I've got a single 10" sub in the trunk. I've got a kid on the way, so trunk space will be at a premium. I've seen the fibreglass box solutions, but the reality is a 10" sub gives me more bass than I need.

Long story short, I'm thinking of using the stock rear door openings for something like a Kicker CompVT 08CVT654 (or some other 6.5" space saver sub). I'm willing to Dynamat behind the woofer and the door itself.

Can someone give me some thoughts on this type of install? Any other ideas?

I've seen people do this before with 6.5" subwoofers. They will never sound the same as using a sealed enclosure. no matter how well you deaden the door, it will leak air through the window slit. If this is your only option, i'd say it's better than nothing...but take time to weigh your options and consider a single sealed 8" subwoofer tucked in the corner of the hatch or in place of the spare tire.
