Haha I love it. Hopefully I have that to look forward too in the future!
Taking a break from the hood for a few days my hands are killing from all that sanding. Messing around with an 2002 626 intake manifold I picked up in Southern Cali last month. Cleaning it and the stock one up and removing some of the runners. I'll be reinstalling the stock manifold for now while I port out the 626 and get the prototype throttle body hooked up to it.
I have serious doubts about the 626 one actually being better if both are ported. Do I think the stock 626 is "better" than the stock intake...yes...
ported 626 vs ported stock....mmmmm
The stock intake VICS is actually very ingenious, I am keeping the low/high rpm butterflys installed while removing the lower ones.
Anyways...I'll be looking at that later as well
Ported my stock intake a bit and deleted butterflys...
New lugs...
So shinyyyyy....I dont wanna use a wrench on them (nervous)
The sand blasted and painted red front struts....yummy
Polished the bar as well
95 viper...mmm
Cool Ducatti I saw at a carshow today
Cutting out small unused sections of metal below the rear bumper area and checking for rust spots under the fenders etc, did some sanding and repainting on a few spots, good as new
Question...Has anyone tried removing the sheet metal heat shield located over the muffler on the back right side?
I'd like to pull it off to get some more room to work and check under it...The heads of the "bolts" are pretty rusted and I wasn't able to find a way to remove them. I checked some of my online manuals and didn't find it in any of them.
Gonna attempt making a little fiberglass box for my little battery tomorrow too...the straps I've been using have frayed and are going to break soon. I knew it was a short term solution when I did it but it lasted way longer than expected. Probably going to cut out the plastic portion with 2 original bolt holes and then make a fiberglass enclosure built above and around that part. Should be fun since It doesn't have to be totally mirror smooth like that pain in the ass hood which I'm still messing with.
I only did a quick job at it, did not port it out fully to where the gasket would fit...but damnnnnnn that engine got hungrrrrry
Oh and something funny...the other day I put EVERYTHING I've removed from my car to move it...
DAMN IT DIDN'T EVEN MOVE...such an unbelievable difference from the stock weight now its ridiculous...which is kind of expected obviously...but...the whole thing was so gradual I never really noticed the car actually getting faster until I got to see the shocking difference carrying the original stuff.
Sounds good! Say, How much does that thing weigh now? I've been reading up on your thread and it's pretty impressive how thorough your weight reduction is.

Removed some excess sheet metal from under the rear bumper today...these are the kind of things that keep me up at night knowing there is weight savings to be had :'(
Removed some metal that was creating a lip and causing HUGE amounts of rock and dirt to get stuck. Dremeled that right off and that should do the trick. Must have found 2 pounds of pebbles under there, but I forgot to weigh them. woops!
Also found the first rust spot on the car, so good thing I was poking around down there. Fixed that right up. Then the rain shower made me retreat before I could attempt the fiberglass battery cover. Welcome to the NW (whistle)
I post to many pictures....but...I cant decide which ones to upload or not...(confused)
