Protege Sedan Exhaust vs. P5 Exhaust

*let's start off by saying yes I did do a number of searches looking for this answer*

So my exhaust just quit on me this morning on my way to work. It's stupid loud, and embarrassing to drive on.

That said, rather than replacing it with a dumpy autozone or advanceauto krinkle-bent aluminized garbage exhaust, I took to ebay looking for a something stainless.

This is my DD, and while I do take good care of it, I don't care about having the best of the best performance parts on it. I have another car for that.

Anyway, there's a bunch of inexpensive (sub $200 range) SS options in 2.25 mandrel-bent for the P5, but absolutely nothing for the sedan. I see that there are 3 sections with the full cat-back (based on the pics).

Are any of these 3 sections a direct fit for the sedan, or are all 3 different? My thought was the axle-back was the only difference, but I don't know for sure.

Can someone else shed some light on this for me? I need an exhaust yesterday, and can't afford the downtime caused by me buying parts that won't fit.

PS> I have an '02 ES stick.

all three sections are direct fit.... HOWEVER the axle backs are different.... If you put the sedan on the p5 it will be sticking out past the bumper like 5 inches roughlyl. So in short the p5 axle back is a little shorter.

very cool. Thanks for the info. I'm thinking I'll pull the trigger on the craptastic looking Stainless N1 on ebay. here

Do you know if any of the members on here have this exhaust and if it's an easy bolt-on or a royal pain in the arse to get to line up properly? As long as all of the pieces are going to bolt right up, and the bends are all proper (especially the 3rd section over the axle), then sourcing a section of 2.25" SS pipe and having it sectioned in either before or after the muffler is an easy task, and still WAY cheaper than a MagnaFlow or something else out there.

I'm not really concerned with crazy performance, but the fact that I won't have to worry about rusted up flanges/bolts and it's a bit less restrictive, while not being too open (ie. all of the stupid 2.5-3" exhausts that are actually hurting n/a performance), I'm happy.

Now to find an OBX header and high-flow cat, and I'll be satisfied for now.

i think someone did an install of one of those or close to it on his P5 and everything turned out just fine install wise. but just giving you a heads up, you'll probably spend ~$50 or so to get that section of piping welded in. and also, it has to go between the muffler and the tip so you'll have an additional 2 weld lines in there. IF anything, spend some time on the FS threads and pick up a MP3/racing beat or mazdaspeed exhaust for cheap. thats what i did and with new gaskets/bolts/nuts and tip rewelded in closer, i was only $300 in the hole. pretty ******* good IMO.
