I am impressed with some of the gas mileage figures I am seeing in this thread.

Would any of you be interested in an Economy Run? This is a fuel mileage contest of 106.3 miles in the southern Adirondacks of upstate New York. My Protege DX was entered in the last one.

Come on out and join us on October 5th. Full details HERE.

I just started using ferox, 250 miles so far and the gauge is reading about half (which probably means I have used 60% of the 13 gallon tank). I will do a couple of tanks to see if there is any real difference.

My 2000 DX's fuel gauge is very skewed towards staying full longer for the first half, but the second half goes quickly.

For instance, if I fill it up to the rim, I can go 200 miles before the needle even comes off of "F". The filler neck must hold quite a bit. In fact when I filled the car up after the low fuel light came on, I put 13.6 gallons in! And they say it's got a 13 gal tank. :D

did a whole tank of highway. got 28.8 goin between 65-75 with 2 other people in the car

NE Ohio winter drops it 2mpg
Not sure if it's everything stiffening, drag from defogger, or oxygenated fuel in general.
But it HATES BP winter blend, which takes another 3mpg away that their summer blend does not, and no other area fuel does either in winter.

I have a previous post about my cheap $10 air filter for my CAI that rusted and killed my mileage. I saw my mileage dropping over the last month and cleaned out my new AEM dryflow filter. Butt dyno indicates an improvement, but I need 2 weeks to tell.

CLEAN YOUR AIR FILTERS.
check your alignment (toe). It's easy and only requries a tape measure.
keep your oil level up and check it often
don't drive like a maniac

good luck!

CAI and muffler have improved the mileage since i got the car

i'm at 80 miles... and at a half tank right now...

gotta love the city winter driving... yeah, i'll prob get around 12mpg... nice huh

might wanna drive a little less hard on the car if thats all you got. the cold city driving shouldnt make that much difference

yeah... but the when the engine warms up... that's when the cold air makes it really fun!!!

lol, but in all seriousness, i usually only get around 18- 20 mpg during the winter, esp if its mostly city driving where i only go a couple miles at the most...

well i filled up yesterday, and ended up getting 18mpg, which i'd admit is a little low for winter, but is what i expected... i know i run kinda rich too

I drive a POS 99 1.6L/spd...here in the cold ass detroit winters Im getting 33mpg in mixed driving...which i think is pretty damn good. When i first got it, it was getting 22mpg, but it hadnt been driven in like 6mos. It also has a check engine light on for a p0420 code caused by an exhuast leak that contiues to elude me.

here i go again lol

What year/type Protege? MSP
Any serious mods? STOCK
Car Mileage? 60k
What kind of gas mileage do you get? 1st tank i got it, i pulled 32MPG, 400 miles to the tank

did a lotta highway to pick it up. we'll see how the city driving is
