Protege Clutchless shifting...

it's all timing and rev matching
practice pratice practice

kinda like sex

uh oh! yah, I went there

(rofl)

leave it to diane to turn it into sex...

You have to rev match during sex, Dammit know I really need to know what the hell rev matching is!

can you define, "matching revs"

Matching revs basically means you "blip" the gas pedal to match the engine RPMs with the RPMs of the rest of the drivetrain. This will make for a smoother shift and also helps a lot with clutchless shifting. This takes the excess shock off of the drivetrain.

ROFL!!! No doubt....

Hell, I've got the stick, but where is the damn clutch on that thing??!!

This is all getting way to confusing... LOL

Back on topic, I tried this in my car the other night... I have to concentrate not to use the clutch, my left foot heads for it involuntarily when it is time to shift, but other than that it shifts pretty smooth. :)

When I rev match, I tap the throttle twice.. Is that strange compared to most that do this?? My AutoX teacher from a long time ago showed me that way, and I never tried any other... it just seems really smooth to me to engage the clutch at the beginning of the second blip, if that makes any sense.

Makes sense. Everyone in my family double taps. I know exactly what you're talking about.

Yeah, I use double taps more so than not. Double taps are also fun at the shooting range too. (guns)

double clutching...lmAo at that...

Why would you laugh it that? Double clutching is a good thing to understand and practice, just like "clutchless shifting".

Are you sure you know what double clutching is? (no sarcasm intended)

Man, I F-uped cleaning a K&N air filter. THis is out of my legue. Not to mention with a shot clutch probably not the best idea.

I don't understand why you people would be rev matching to shift up. I mean, when I try to clutchless shift, I need to wait for the damn revs to drop before dropping it into the next gear. Just because I do that, it's not worth to clutch-less shift since it's quicker for me to quickly tap the clutch long enough to get it in.

However, when shifting down (never done it without a clutch), I can see why you'd need to rev match...

Heh, Double Clutching, everytime i hear that it reminds me of The Fast and The Furious, lol. What a joke. Vin Diesel didn't know what the hell he was talking about, and neither did the writers.

now ''granny shiftin' it'' takes talent you probably need nitrous in your viens and a gas tank for a brain to atempt any thing that crazy!!!
