Prosport Boost Gauge Wiring Help. I actually have a headache from thinking about it.

I will, just a quick question. The Spin-on oil filter conversion plus the prosport adapter plate is what i need right? haha

I always get a bit nervous lol I'll try to though. Maybe I'll find somebody near here that has a MS6 and has done one before (fingers crossed)

im pretty sure theres a how to on it.. ive seen it before but i cant remeber if it was on here or "the other forum" ---MSF

I know there was kind of one on here but it's not in the how to section, i'll have to find it. My whole worry section is the oil temp and oil pressure gauge how to (uhm)

do you need the sandwich plate for oil temp???

I believe so because the prosport adapter plate for the spin on oil filter conversion has two spots in it for the sender units for oil temp and oil press to screw into. So i'm not 100% but i believe so.

Sorry for bringing up a old post but 2 questions seeing that i'm getting my gauge this week sometime.

Where is the best place to mount the electronics module and for the dimmer wouldn't the best place to be the little light bulb in the cig lighter? Turns on as soon as the headlights turn on

I'm also in need of some wiring help.. I installed my gauges last night.. I hooked up the White and Red to the cig lighter and the ground there as well.. The white looks nice but is too much at night time.. So I want white/day and amber/night..

In a previous post someone stated to do AMBER/AMBER you hook up just the Orange wire.. I want to run White during the day and Amber at night but have no idea what to tap into to get this done.. It says on the instructions to hook the white to an ignition wire and the orange to a headlight wire.. But I don't know what wire would come on as soon as the car turns on.. Any help??

I just went ahead and ran the orange wire to the cointray light and it switches colors now.. I'm not sure if it is as bright as I want it yet.. But we shall see.. Gonna have to wait til later tonight and check it out..

You tapped into the little light in the ashtray??? Shouldn't make a difference in where you tap in to make a difference in how bright the gauge gets.

Let me know how it works out! Mine should be here in a couple of days

It was the closest place to tap in at.. And since the light comes on when the headlights are on it seemed like the logical choice.. I usually run my headlights all the time anyway but I think I will leave them off during the day from now on.. Since its hard as hell to see that AMBER color in the day..

Which gauge did you go with?

I got the 60mm Prosport Premium Amber/White.. Put it in the center AC vent..

Sorry for the blur.. New blackberry curve has a terrible camera..

I'm wondering where to mount the electronics module to. I got the 52mm Premium and trying to decide the best spot. Inside or out?

I followed a few threads on here that were in the how-to section.. There is one that is pretty dead on with how to wire the gauge up.. Just run the sender wire through the firewall, mount the sender in the engine bay behind the battery, run the vac lines and then wire up the power wires.. Pretty simple install if I don't say so myself..

Happen to know where that write up is??

I used this thread for reference to install gauge in center vent:

I used this thread to wire the stuff up:
http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123700399&highlight=gauge

This thread shows the wiring of the sender and vac tubes.. However there wasn't a write up for linking the power wires.. As I said I just bought some 18 gauge wire and ran the wires to the cigarette lighter

I spliced the WHITE and RED (power) wires into the Positive wire of the cigarette lighter. Ran the BLACK (ground) wire to the Negative (black) wire of the cigarette lighter. Then I ran the ORANGE wire to the Positive (green) wire of the ashtray light. This allows the gauges to be WHITE when the car is on and AMBER when you turn on the park/headlights.

Perfect thanks. I just opened up my gauge to look at it and for some reason its reading -4? Shouldnt that be reading 0?

BTW the cig lighter is not a constant source for 12V. So the closing ceremony won't work and that annoying beep on start-up you wont be able to disable it.

I realize that now that I've hooked it up and had it running for a few days.. I may take the car back apart and rewire the power/white wires..
