PROS: of FSDE?

i was not to crazy once i received my fsde. i wanted to get on it a little from the dealership on the test drive to see what it had, but the lady said no, after I bought it I realized why. haha. i was pretty upset compared to my na eclipse (420a) motor where you can beat on all day and run easily a 75 shot of nitrous, etc. but overall i am satisfied with the protege now. with all of the dsm's i have had (420a & 4G63) they tend to overheat a lot, i have not had any problems with the FSDE or read much about them overheating!

ya the car seems to just be for looks, realiabillity, and mpg...kinda a joke for a tuner car i think it needs way to many modifications.

true...i agree with you when you say it needs way to many mods, which is very true. but i kind of enjoy it, b/c not only are you personalizing it but, your gaining more knowledge as well. i don't really see it as a joke for a tuner car, more like a challenge! there are many of great tuners on this forum who have taken the challenge. jmo......and on the flip side of my argument the hp numbers suck haha.

my car has more than enough torque for me, i'm happy with my car, i'll never sell it

Thats is true, and I will agree their are some very good tuners on here and my hat is off to them but really now come on this motor is a joke, has no power or REAL potential at all, I think its kind of a waste of time to mess with it extensively, for those who try to get maybe a bit more power of it, well that sounds more realistic but if your tryna push n make it a full out STI wannabe then good luck. I myself will be tryin to get some power out of it just something decent for the freeway and stuff nothing too crazy, so for everyone who reads this, this is not a diss to anyone at all, I'm just saying that the motor isnt worth it to fix up.....but a swap is a different story!!

agreeable! i mean my old tsi i spent maybe 700 bucks and i was pretty satisfied with the power. running between 13-16psi, tbe, intake, springs, ported head and rebuilt engine with new bearings and rings, and an udp. haha.

yup haha...man if im gonna have my motor built plus turbo chargered man i better push at LEAST 300hp around 12psi...BTW are their any possible good swaps? i hear a klze but iono wanna see what else is out there.

i am pretty positive that i'm making over 300whp on my motor

What are your specs? and on how much psi? if you are then thats great, it just seems to me these cars need extensive mods to get around that area..maybe its cause im just not used to small motors...btw im not tryna diss you, my hat is off to you for your hard work and accomplishment, I just think that their are a lot of other cars out there (same class) that responde way better to mods and you dont have to do too much to get in that range.

Best part about this engine.....It's extremely easy and relatively inexpensive to fix and maintain...

Parts are everywhere....

I am with you on that, but "other" cars are everywhere, i have an MSP, #298 0f 1750, nuff said, i'm building a car that you don't see everyday, to me that means alot more, i could have baught an Evo or an STI but they are everywhere, i'll pm you my specs, i'm on my way to the office now

An unmodded NA Protege is a bit of a dog. Throw a few bolt on parts at it and it comes alive (although it still isn't super fast or anything). On the other hand, an unmodded turbo Protege is pretty quick. Still not the fastest thing on the road but it has more than enough power to get out of its own way.

+2 on that! Ass whoopin family wagon!!!

my car right now is scary fast, it's a white knuckle ride every time, it's fast as phuck!!!

o ya i hear you on that man i swear everyone straight ran to mommy and daddy on that one, i want a evo or sti etc etc, its those who chose to be different and take the "challenge" (and didnt have their mom or dad buy it for them)that really set the bar on things, your specs are pretty nice, I dont think I saw how much psi you are running tho? either way how is it for daily driving? well I think I get you, what you are saying is that were not just fixing up the usaul sport compacts we are doing the unexpected, the underdogs just like a ford focus etc etc.congrats on your acheivement..ill will be tryna to do the same but i need it to be daily driven.

it's daily driven right now actually, i'm boosting around 18-20psi right now, i don't beat on it much anymore since it's so damn powerfull, still a few quirks but other than that, runs as smooth as eggs!

(10)(10)sounds good to me...tryna get a msp turbo kit but gotta sell my sound system first lol or if anyone wanna trade
