To moderators: please move it to the proper section if you deem necessary, I wasn't sure where to post it, but since I drive a CX-5, I figured that I could start it here. Anyway, back to the point.
A friend of mine has a Miata and recently he just recommended this product, Prolube Oil Treatment. He said that he adds it to the car, to the engine, of course, every time he's doing an oil change. He told me that this product is very good, quiets down the engine and protects it better. My first impulse was to buy it, which I did, ordered it from Amazon. But then I started to look it up on the internet, to find out what's the deal with this thing. Generally positive reviews, few people called it "snake oil", other people neutral and some negative opinions. On YouTube I could not find any conclusive review. Mostly an older gentleman talks about this oil and it seems that he is directly involved in the manufacturing process, so I suspect this guy is biased. Some other guy on some engine oil forum ( can't remember the name of the forum, random google search) claims that these additives are not really doing any good because they are changing the chemical composition of the oil used in the engine. And this claim kind of made me pause for a minute, because I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-30 and I am not sure that this oil, this brand ( like Amsoil and other big names), needs any other additives. So, have you ever heard of Prolube Oil Treatment? If yes, did you use it? Did it do any good/bad to your engine?
