Project MSP-3D is underway!

awesome work, let me know if you'd be interested in using it on www.**********.com, the site is being built now... I can give it to the designer to put in the site.

This semester is over in just over a week & I am strapped for time...trying to finish this final project along with like 5 others in time.

are there any other programs similar to this?? I found a site to download free software but i didnt find this program on it.

maya is different then 3dsmax. i seen your picture and i couldn't tell what you did besides trace the shape of your car. alot of people would of used box modeling to create the model. are you gonna model the interior and make the door, trunk and hood hinged too?

2k3: Maya 6 just came out a few weeks ago & I'm trying to get a copy for home. There are other programs, but Maya is generally accepted as the industry standard.

Matthew: I'm modelling my car based on a 3D wireframe.

jophus: That picture was just the early stage where I was drawing curves based on my reference pictures. I got suggestions early on for other ways to model it, but read the thread, I already explained why I'm using curves. I'll do the hinges no problem, but the interior isn't on my to do list.

it's looking good so far. are you in school for animation or anything in that field? you got jpegs of some of your other work? i'd like to see them if you do.... keep going with it.

my girlfriend has fully rendered versions of the MSP, Rx8 and Rx7(FD) if you guys want them. She's done them in both 3d Studio Max and Maya (Art Center automotive design grad... so you know the s**** perfect hehe)

anywho the new game shes working on we were ******* around with skins on vehicles and are using the MSP in place of one of the buggies. Nothing like seeing an msp get blown up by a tank!

I should be play testing sometime early this week.... i'll take a screenshot or two of an msp getting rolled over mwahahahha

jophus: I'm getting my BFA in Computer Animation. That's my only big modelling project, but I have 1 animation that I made & a character I did texturing for. Everything else so far is traditional art.

Pkay: Can you get the Maya file from her. I'd love to go to the labs & compare her model as a reference.

I'm sure the third person view can't beat a first person view.....(peep)

you can toggle first and third person in the game so i'll see what i can get as far as an mpeg.

i'll get the files from her this week (she'll be asleep when i get home) but like I said testing later this week and i can get her to pop the msp skin and get pwn'd a few times for some good shots

I'm interested to see the finalized pic. Are there any protege5 modelling projects out there? I started a very feeble attempt with 3ds Max but gave up shortly afterwards... makes me appreciate how much effort you're putting into this MSP-3d project. Best of luck, dude.
