New project time! Picked up an '88 BMW 325i from a friend of mine. The car is stock right now, but the engine was freshly rebuilt to Spec E30 tolerances. The long term plans for the the car revolve around building a 300rwhp turbo track car. The short term plans are to put the motor and getrag 5-speed into the car and get it running. Then do all the suspension work I can afford to get it handling right.

I'll update with new pictures as progress is made.

Nice! It an early 88 because it has the metal bumpers. A S50 would look really hawt in that engine bay. What kind of track car? Straight line or for cutting up curves?

Yep. Early '88. I should have specified on the track car comment. A ride like this would do me no good in a straight line. While the build process is being done, I'll take it to occasional private lapping days at Gainesville Raceway. Then when it's all done, I'm going to put it to the test and let the car stretch it's legs out at Sebring.

Like I said, the motor was rebuilt for use in a Spec E30 car. It was broken in, then pulled from the car to be used as a backup motor of sorts. The motor itself is stock apart from the regulation-allowed cam swap and ported head. I was tossing around the idea of just finishing up the whole Spec process, but I think I'd much rather have a little turbocharged beast that can carve the corners and still drive on the street as opposed to a race-only car that gets towed from event to event.

Fantastic. I'll keep that in mind if I come across any kind of issues while putting this thing back together. So in other words, expect a few PM's in the coming weeks. :)

No problem at all Scott. If I do not know the answer I can ask someone at my work.

Cool scott, i'm jealous I love E30s! I'm moving up to orlando in january, if you want to some help don't hesitate to ask.

Yeah man, I can use all the help I can get. I want to have it running in the next 1-2 weeks. From then on out, it's aftermarketpalooza for the bimmer.

Nice!
But I think you may want to look into that hole you've got there...could be missing a few parts.

It needs this under the hood.

A e36 M3 motor and tranny swap. I am planning to do this swap sometime within the next year. I just need to find a clean e30 to do that swap in.

Hell to the yes!!!
I love M3's...only BMW I'd ever drive. Well, maybe any M Powered Bimmer.

Love e30's. I had 3 of them before, I love those little things. Last one was a 93 325 vert with a mt.

Update...hm...not much progress made. having issues with clutch and flywheel. So I'm trying to find a solution, or I'm just going to have to buy new parts. The whole thing is already progressing WAY behind schedule.
