Progress Sway + P5 Stock Endlinks?

Just a quick question. I have seen reports of people having their bars turn 180 degrees forward when using the stock P5 endlinks. Is this a real problem or is it only a problem when people have used the clunk fix brackets?
Thanks for the help!

only a problem for the mazdaspeed / mp3 rear bar - progress is made to use stock endlinks

I will 2nd the comment 2 posts up. I have progress 22mm rr sway & stock endlinks lowered 1.3 without issue for 2 years or more. No clunk, no breaky, no touchy, fit just fine.

thanks for this thread. I am looking to add a Progress rear sway with the stock end links. But, are we locked in to sticking with the oem end links? Would there ever be a need to use say awr? Plan on using with eibach pro kit. Sorry for the ??? but I really want to know before I order them.

I've heard of some poeple using the miata awr rears because they were shorter but IIRC that was with the awr bar. You could use the awr endlinks for P5 too. There's a clunk fix rubber grommet from the help section to use if you go with those. My stock ones have held up lowered 1.3 all around on oem struts with progress sway bar & are currently still in use with the illuminas lowered the same with the progress sway bar. No issues whatsoever. IIRC there's at least one other kind but can't think of them.

Thank you.
Seems like most people do not have many issues when using the Progress bar. I am now at 80% sure this is the one I want. Please if anyone has had issues, post em.

I got the progress Rear Sway bar, and man is it beef compaired to the stock bar! The only problem I have is I can not get the endlinks off, the bolts are rusted and the design sucks to easily get them off. So for $10 more I bought the AWR endlinks cause of adjustability, they are stronger, and you can use two socket wrenches to easily get them off unlike the stock links. I will let you know what they are like once I get them on tonight or tommorrow morning.

How did it go?

Broke my endlink

Had the bar on for about a year. Broke my passenger side end link and bent the endlink holder on the strut. Need to weld holder for additional support and also weld braces on support. This is another continual problem I have with my P5 that I'm trying to get rid of. POS.

Broke my endlink

The holder that attaches the endlink to the stock strut or maybe that's the strut holder.

Just cut up a couple of pieces of steel and looking for a good welder to weld them on before I reinstall the Progress bar.

Tried to sell the bar last year for $60 plus shipping but no takers so I put it back on. I'll just sell it with the car when I get all the repairs done.

That's why I am the official on quality/s*** lol see my link in sig for a lovely example from AWR

Uhh, so you put on a swaybar that's three times as stiff as stock and you're surprised the crappy-ass endlink mounting tab on the stock strut broke?

PV=nRT. Or, in layman's terms, torch + compressed gas = boom.

Funny

Yes, Mr. Sarcastic. What arrogance. I was merely replying to let everyone who may read this thread that the P5 was under-engineered and any changes can result in lost in reliablility.

I've been modding cars before you were born and this is the first crap that does not do well with mods. Would you like to race your modded P5 against my modded turbo Eclipse? Strip or track?

wow... lol a modded turbo eclipse... since sway bars have everything to do with speed... and eclipses...

I am not even sure what is going to happen in this thread, but I know it will be good lol

Alot of mods have been done to our cars by many different people. It's already been known for a long time that after market sway bars could possibly break your strut mounting holes.

Should mazda have made them stronger? no... since they didn't design the car to be modified by you.

ok, back to topic. enough (fight)

So is this broken piece... is part of the strut or part of the car? I am planning on Tok HP struts. Please just give some good input and leave the cock measuring for some other time. If it is part of the strut then I would imagined that you would have just replaced the strut instead of all of the hassle of welding, so I am guessing the broken piece is some kind of mounting piece that is attatched to the car? And I know less and have been modding since yesterday(fight)

Sorry to have upset you, crashed.

Tokico struts have reinforced endlink mounting tabs suitable for stiff aftermarket sway bars.
