Profec B Spec II Settings Library

oh and also..its reads crazy numbers! like it will read that im boosting 3psi..in fact..it reads that a lot..crazy? i hope this plug thing works

Cool, sorry I didnt get back busy day. So how much boost are you running? Glad it worked out.

yea thanks a lot man i was worried there for a while haha...im running about 10-11psi, still trying to work out all the kinks haha car pulls great though

s***! Does this thing ever take forever to tune?!?! I think I've done about 70 km's worth of runs and it's still iffy.

im finding that it's near impossible to perfectly tune this thing...

im now at 16 set, 33 gain, 30 setgain, 85 warning, and 3 limiter...

dependant on what gear im in... i will see a spike up to 9ish and a fluctuating hold between 7.5-8.5psi...

i think a big part of our problem is the small gt25 turbo... it's a real finickey turbo w/ a weak wastegate spring to begin with... so the valve of the boost controller is constantly trying yo fight the wastegate from dumping which seems to be why i always see my boost gauge bouncing w/ about a 1psi jump.

i'd love to find the spec i would need to shim the wastegate just a hair so that it would take a couple extra pounds to open without any controller in place. Until that happens... i think we're stuck w/ the wonky antics of the profec

Okay, almost there. I'm shooting for 7.5 psi (low boost) and this is what I have so far:

Set: 14%
Gain: 21%
Set Gain: 35
Warning: 80
Limiter: 99%

With these settings I hit 7.3 - 7.8 psi and spike to 8.1 - 8.3 psi. The only thing is that at my desired boost it will drop to about 6.8 - 7 psi. I guess a little more tuning is needed.

ya... i have yet to find a way to set it to hold my desired boost to redline... and i've been playin with it for 6+ months

Okay, so with my settings above, how come sometimes the unit beeps and turns red on me? I have the warning set at 8 psi but under boost I never see the gauge hit that. The only thing is the peak boost level reads 8.1 - 8.3. Is this not boost spike? I'm just wondering why that it beeps sometimes and sometimes it doesn't and peak boost level is always in that range?

my limiter doesnt activate until .5 psi past what i set it at... so if you want it to start limiting you at 8psi... set it to about 75 or 76... it'll activate at 8psi

Yeah, that's the thing, mine is set at 8, so if in fact it doesn't activate until .5 past what I set it at, then it shouldn't activate at all.

So this is what is happening:

My desired boost level = 7.5
Viewed boost level while accelerating = 7.5 - 7.8
Peak boost level afterwards = 8.1 - 8.3

The warning beeps actually only happen in 2nd gear (when it does happen). Like I said, it's not all the time. Would outside temperature have anything to do with it? Even if it did, I still don't see my gauge hit the limiter.

This is frustrating! And I haven't even set hi boost yet. Looking for about 8.5 on that.

Ok, I've just got done reading all these posts because I was interested to see what peoples settings were. I believe some of you people may be having a problem because on the Greddy valve unit you have one of the plastic plugs still in it. On an internal actuator you need to remove all the plastic plugs.

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about you probably either did not install it yourself or you did but didn't read the manual clearly.
See the following link and goto page 10 of 23:

All the plugs are out for me.
Your Gain is too high.

Do the following:
Set the SETGAIN to 0 set the Gain to 10% and Set to 15%.

Test your setting in 3rd or 4th doesn't matter. What you're looking for is the boost to do one of the following:

WOT boost hits correctly then drops as RPM's climb - Turn up Gain

WOT boost hits correctly then spikes as RPM's climb - Turn down Gain

Once you are able to go WOT and the boost stays without fluctuation adjust your Set to the desired boost pressure you want to see. Then adjust your SETGAIN to like 5% below your desired boost pressure. After adjusting your SETGAIN and you are spiking lower the SETGAIN more until you no longer get the spike and you're set.

You can also view page 21 of the Greddy Profec manual above for "Boost Setting Tips"

I went out and looked at the Profec since I haven't looked at it in awhile. For my .72-.75 bar setting, Greddy Electronic Gauge, these are the settings that I'm using. I have no boost spikes or anything.

SET: 29%
GAIN: 13%
SETGAIN: 0.35
Warning: 0.80
Limit: 20%

Rumor has been told that the PSI setting on the Profec Spec 2 is incorrect so I would recommend switching back to the BAR reading to see if this helps you guys out any.

My .85 bar setting is different but I haven't ran it in awhile and replaced the .85 setting with my .75 bar setting listed above.

Traction in First and Second is non-exsistent. Must be the potenza's :P

my profec in PSI reads identical to my apexi mechanical gauge... they are both fed from the same source
