Profec B II settings?

Before I got my fmic and turbo-back system installed my boost seemed to drop to about 5 psi after hitting about 6. And when I changed my settings on profec to go up a couple psi, it goes up to about 8 but drops down to about 4 psi. I figured I had a leak.

After the install of fmic and exhaust it got better but still hitting 8 and back down to 4. I also replaced all vacuum lines and it still does it. Are my settings wrong? I tried different ways but had no luck. How does the boost hold on your msp's? +1, -1 psi or like mine?
And can someone tell me what's a good setting to be at 8 psi and stay there?
my current settings on high are
15-set
40-set gain
and i can't remember if i have the warning working, but don't get the red screen when that happens too.

Thanks for any help.

Technically you need the gain when you are losing boost. . .but with the gain set at 40 you should have more than enough. I think the settings will vary a lot on different turbos and wastegates, but I guess my settings will kind of work (I'm at 20% set, 25% gain, and .17 set gain). My guess now is that you have the onset of boost too late. . .which now as I read it. . .you say "set gain". Set gain is when the controller starts to send a signal to the wastegate. So, if yours is set at .40, then you aren't even "communicating" with the wastegate until about 5.6 psi, so you will overshoot every time. Turn this down to about .20 and give it a shot.

I would say that you need to turn down the set gain to be successful. Don't feel "bad" by turning it WAY down. You will lose some "spool" by doing this, but dial in the set and the gain numbers first. Once you have the boost you need then, turn up the set gain until you start to spike, then back it off a little. That way you will be keeping the wastegate closed until the controller hits (set gain) at which point the set and gain filter in.

Sorry this sounds like "crap" for those that aren't familiar with the unit, but for those that have a Profec B, it should make perfect sense.

Questions? PM me you phone number and a good time to call.

Thanks for your help Beavis, It makes sense, I'll have to play with it tomorrow, Good explanation about the "set gain". Does your boost stay up all the way to the redline?
Thanks
Vik.

My boost holds like a champ 80% of the time. I think every now and then when the weather is really different it changes maybe 1 psi. Most of the time it is exactly where I set it. I'm very happy with the Profect B Spec II.
