production number mystery solved maybe?!?!?!?!

okay guys, i just may have figured out the production mystery i called mazda and asked them for my production number ended up being 1518, so i was looking through the paperwork trying to find anything with that number, on the window sticker next to sold to it has 51518 the last 4 digits are 1518, this could possibly be the answer, not sure if you guys saved your window sticker, check it and see if its correct with what mazda told you.

That does not match for mine....I think that that number is the location code for the dealer the car was sold to from the factory...just a thought, and your prod # happened to match the dealer #.

does it really matter? its a number and thats all. its not like anybody is going to win a prize or be considered specail if they have a certain #. i'm sure as s*** not going to give up a parking space at the mall for somebody who's got a lower # than mine. i don't think the next time the yanks and adolf steinbrenner there win a series they're going to have number such and such be the grand marshall of the parade or anything. jeez guys/gals. don't you have anything better to do that agonize over a friggen #?

but thats were yoru wrong jeckel, i dunno if you realize, but the lower the number in car the more valuable the car is. I mean your right, its not like ur gotta give up a parking space, but its just kinda cool to know hwen ur car was made adn if it was one of the first 10 made thats killer sweet jsut to know yanno.

so what your telling me here is is that if i were to go and either sell my car or trade it in at any point down the road and i was asking whatever price i found to be reasonable by whatever method whether it be a bluebook value or some other recognizable value system other than just what i think the car is worth, whoever is either looking at the car or making me an offer isn't going to look at me like i'm ****** in the head when i tell them i want this much and another $1000 on top of it for it being a low production #?

no whats hes saying is that since it is a low production number that it is more valuable to him.. Doesnt matter if its important to you or me.. He know what number his was produced in the limited production of the vechile.. I for one am going to find out mine whenever i think to do it

well for collectors it make the car more valuable, example, say im gonna go out and buy a rare car, that has limited amount in the united state, cant think of a completely utterly rare classic off the top of my head. but say you were going to buy one, and theres a guy selling one production number 10 of 200, and another guy is selling one production number 189 of 200, me being a collector id want that 10 over the 189, and id be willing to pay more for it.

thank you Ryan for your overwhelming wealth of knowledge here. you are absolutely right, i'm not a car collector. i am however a car driver who goes from point A to point B with his vehicle that just so happens to be a somewhat limitied production car, till the 2003.5's come out. have you gone out and had a special dash plaque made for your ultra rare car yet? how about the guys with Lamborghini's? do they have a collectors car as well? i'm not sure whether or not if they number them when they come over here but i'd put any amount of money in the world that the person who got the first one that came across that year isn't going to be able to use that as a valid point when he or she goes to add $5k on top of what they may be asking to sell it for.

here's one of the more important things you will ever be told up to your current age, ok you ready? something is only worth as much as you make it out to be nomatter the true value of it. if you want to think your car is worth $80k then guess what, it is. truth of the matter be told its worth what somebody else says its worth and you'll probably never see any amount within $5k of what you paid for it if you try to sell it in the first year or 2. now you seem to be pretty young and deffinetly nieve so let me use some personel experiances here that may be a little more to your level. did you ever collect comics or any kind of cards when you were younger? i did. i used to spend mass amounts of usually my parents money on them, didn't matter if it was boxes or packs at a time of them but i bought them, my favorite thing which i'm kicking myself in the ass for now is how i used to buy single cards or issues that were suppose to be extra special and worth X amount of dollars. guess what happens today if i go try to sell that oh so hot comodity that i spent lets say $50 on that some sort of price guide says is worth $.43 now, its only worth $.43 to everybody else and i'll never see the rest of the money back that i spent on it. tough s*** for me basically.

here's the moral of the story, if you think your car is god's gift to automobiles and is worth X amount of dollars,hey, dissaluision yourself to your blue in the balls but do not get offended when somebody tells you that your car or whoever's car isn't worth more than the going rate for them because its got a lower production #.

I'm young so therefore that makes me nieve? what a laff. Yes, i collected cards, and i was the one smart enuf to get rid of the card when its value reached its peak, and some are still growing in value. Yes, i agree that some, lose value over time, You can either sell at the first sign of loss which would be the smart thing to do, or you can wait and hope something comes out related, and maybe a boost in price will come along with it. Example, new baseball player, rookie card isnt worth s*** unless he's very good, or until he retires. No im not gonna go out and buy a plate to stick on my car and show production number. But, all im saying its its nice to know, and if ya car happens to be a lower production number, in years to come, it'll be more valuable to some ppl than it will be to others, and just becuz you lost out 7 bucks on a baseballs/comic card or whatever it was, doesn't mean that everything drops in value, oh and you do realize that ur car drops in value the second they hand you over the keys? but with our cars being only 1750 in production compared to thousand and thousands made for other types of cars. Value will decrease when you drive off yes, but increase over time, not by drastic ammounts, but if you went to sell in lets say 3 years, you'd definately be able to get every cent you paid for it. Oh, and its not set in stone, that the 2003.5 are DEFINATELY comming out, just like its not set in stone that they are gonna make a mazdaspeed series for every mazda out. like protege 5 mazda 6 miata. Yes, you may see one or two, but there prototypes. I only foresee mazda making the 03.5 is the 03 were a HUGE enuf sucess that they feel they could mass produce with 4 new colors. to be honost has anyone looked at the car, its ugly. the grounds effects and the wings on the back are so ugly, makes the car look like its a saftey flotation devise rather than ground effects. the whole agressive look is poofed in the 03.5, but hey its all opinion, you buy a car for yourself, not becuz of what other ppl are gonna say and think about it, cuz when it comes down to it. its your car, you baught it for your enjoyment. Oh, and its not a big deal to some ppl i agree'd with you on that factor, I just think its kinda cool, and if ya are a collector its another thing you can ad to your list of mods, my car was 1518 off the production line, thats not saying alot i prolly wouldn't bother, but if i was in top 50 running through a car show or something if i had a board listening my mod's id definately put something like

some ppl think stuff like that is cool. You don't, its not a big deal, collectors, go for rareness in whatever it is, id rather be able to say i was production number 15 of 1750, than to say im 1518 of 1750. a lower number is gonna be alot harder to find then one in the thousands. Just, like the Eclipse in the Orange color. Thats an extremely rare car, and to find the gsx version of that its even more rare, if i found one, id definately try to fork out the cash for it. its like going into a old ladies garage and finding a classic thats just been sitting there for the past 30 - 40 - even 50 years.
There is really nothing more to say here, you dont agree w/ me i dont agree w/ you. No, point in trying to prove eachother wrong, it'll just keep a cycle going. Anyways, take care.

I will just add this. I think it is pretty cool knowing our production #s. No question. Not many people can claim that. Will it add any extra value in the end? No; not really. But a potential buyer might like knowing, so it could help sell the car. Of course; it is also very cool, that there are only 2,000 '03 MAZDASPEEDS in existance. That's no bad thing.

well ryan you've amazded me once again. you must not realize there's pictures around here somewhere of the yellow and silver 2003.5's sitting at port along with whatever remaining orange and black are there. anything else?

also, check the for sale section and make sure those guys with MP3's are making every cent back that they spent on their brand new cars that are now up for sale. somethings telling me you'll find a different answer that you think. then again i'd pay top dollar window sticker pricing for a car that was a year or 2 old,some stone chips and possible cigarette burns and all the other little things that come along with a used car like the 30K miles that are on it. see if you can turn around and sell that for what you paid for it.

yes they made a few, they have not mass produced them, and wether there going to or not has yet to be determined maybe u should goto mazdausa.com and read the article an example, of this is showing, mitsubishi evo vII was supposed to hit us march of last year, they postponed till june, and agian till september, then they skipped bringing it over all together adn dropped the evo vIII in our laps just this month. just becuz there are a few around doesnt mean there going into mass production.
