Problems with A/C on long trips

So I decided to drive my speed from FL to TN. 9 hours into the trip my a/c sounded like it had sucked some thing up and the amount of air coming from the vents was minimal. I turned the air speed to max and it would blow quarter to slightly half of what it should. It really sounded like some thing was covering the fan restricting it. I kept driving to the next exit on the interstate and the air kept getting warmer and warmer. When I got off, I popped the hood and looked around, one of the a/c hoses was sweating alot and very cold. I could not see any trash from there. I got back on the road and had the same issue so I called my dealer. They told me it is a COMMON problem, but you won't know about it till you drive for a long ways. He told me to stop for lunch and wait about 30 min. I did and when I got back in the car the a/c was working perfectly. I took the car into a dealer in GA and it took about an hour to fix. It was a diffuser plate and a small pin hole leak in a hose. Every thing was warranty.

I've had the same experience. Long drive, hot weather, ac just stopped. looked around underhood, checked the ac clutch and fuses, all ok. 30 min later, problem gone and hasn't returned.

The sweating is perfectly normal.

I was just wanting to let people know it is a warranty issue and the dealer knew very well about it. Might want to have it checked out if you are still under warranty.

Sometimes the compressor freezes up. Results from keeping it too cold and ice forming in the air handler. Same thing happens in home air conditioners. Once the ice melts, air moves more freely. Not really broken, just the way they work.
