Problem with Tom Tom GPS sound

I had the GPS installed two months after my initial purchase. Initially, the voice worked fine, but after a month it stopped working. Weather the function is on or off and regardless of the volume setting she no longer gives directions. Lastly, at any time voice directions are suppose to occur, my front speakers are still muted as usual. Any ideas?

Tap the screen at the botton-center and make sure it is not muted and the slide volume is high. It is a different volume an mute than the radio level...

Thanks for your reply. It doesn't matter where the volume notch is set to on the bar on that screen, even at 100 percent it won't say anything.

something must have happened to the 'voice' you were using, go to the settings and select a different voice

Thank you for your advice. I tried taking the memory card out. Once I put it back in, the system rebooted. This seems to have resolved the issue, at least temporarily.

There is an option to turn off voice guidance maybe that was accidentally pressed. Choosing a new voice should enable it or rebooting the system will.

So my solution to reboot the GPS was a temporary fix. It seems that once I reboot the unit (take card out and put back in), the problem resolves itself until the next time I start the car. I've double and triple checked, and the guidance volume is on. The oddest part of this glitch, is that it continues to mute the front speakers at the appropriate times, just without any audible direction. One last note. I've tried different voices and it doesn't make a difference.
