I am having problems with my power windows on 1998 mazda protege.Only the driver side window works.I took it to a mechanic and he hecked and said the motor(s) on windows were all fine and i needed to replace the master switch.
Now my question is if master switch was a problem how would the driver window work?I have not had my battery disconnected or unplugged the master switch. So do i need to buy a new master switch(very hard to find one) OR is there any other way to check it?

lol. welcome to mazda power windows. sounds like your master switch actually works, and the others are bad, if its leting the drivers side window go up and down. master switch is ~60-75 dollars at the dealer, pass front is 35, and rears are in the mid/high 20s. or you can go to a jy and ninja some, but there is no garuntee that those will work

Thanks for the reply.
Wow!!The question is how can all 3 switches go bad at the same time? Also another problem is the display light behind the AC/Heater keeps coming on and off randomly(will come on when i go over a bump) which makes me doubt if there is some problem with the electrical connections....
Hope that i get some advice here before i go and buy a master switch or th other 3 switches or BOTH

you might have an electrical gremlin then. sounds like a bare wire completing a circuit on some metal. if u can, go through with a voltmeter and see where the break is. but with the windows, its probably been happening for a while, they just kind of cummulated into a massive shut down. ive been through 3 master switches and 2 full sets of the others on my 90

Update

Thanks Silver03p5.
Yesterday i went thru the same bumpy road i had gone over when my master switch shutdown, and miraculously the s/w started working again.
Now my question is isnt this some loose electric connection/contact and how do i fix this problem??
