hi guy

i do have the ambition to turbo my 02p5 and i have also been reading the n/a tech forum about the mods that they perform and i was hoping to do my cams and my ecu plus exhaust i under stand that there is no need to waste money on my headers because i will need a new one but i thing catback system will work because i think the cat stays in the factory position can you please advise if im on the right track and also of some good systems to get.

next is cams is a good cam for a n/a car also good for turbos this i have no idea about so can you please advise some info about cam setups durations and lift for street and strip applications i dont want an all out race car because i am a real estate agent and some times take clients in my car but i will just wind back the boost or run a different ecu map when they are in but i still need to retain driveability during these times.

next i wish to run a microtech lt-8 this does work well with turbo series 4 rx7s and other 4 cylinder cars it nice and affordable and will give me little a boost.

i want to do these mods to get a little more power out of my n/a zm 1.6 p5 before i go the turbo but i dont want to buy some thing isnt suitable for turbo applications and have to change it when i put the turbo on

can you also suggest any other mods i can do to give me a bit more power now and help with the turbo later i do not want to do any internal mods like conrods or piston but maybe an new throttle body or inlet manifold that suits both applications

thank for any help its appreciated

A NA cam is different from a Turbo cam, so upgrading the na cams if you have plans to turbo the car is not such a good idea.

A cat back exhaust is a great idea even if you are not planning to go turbo. But if you are gonna turbo the P5, then every little bit helps in the exhaust.

yeah, a 2.5" exhaust would be a great choice. a little big for an N/A 1.6L, but its in the sweet spot for a turboed one. (maybe even a tad small, since the best exuast on a turbo car is no-exhaust)

really the best thing to do is start saving for the turbo kit. and/or do non power related mods, because most of them would either a) do nothing for power anyways, or b) just be wated money because they would come right back off.

good luck

Unless you plan to put out serious power your stock cams are fine. HiBoost recently came out with a nice kit for the 1.6l motor. Other than exhaust I would just save money for the turbo and all related components ie. gauges(boost,egt,a/f ...), injectors ect...
Just do a search, these forums have alot of info to be found.
