Power Socket not getting Power

Hey guys,

Hopefully someone can help me out.

I've got an '07 Speed3 and recently the power socket in the center console box has stopped working. The cigarette lighter, air bag light, and ash tray light are all working normally.

I also had the CD player replaced at the dealership just before my 36k mile warranty was up. I took it in a couple of weeks ago and have realized that the power socket hasn't worked since.

I checked to make sure that the power socket connection was connected to the power supply and it was.

Does anyone have any ideas as far as what part is shot...like the socket, the connection, etc?

Thanks.

I guess another question I have is this...

Has anyone done any mods with the incoming power cable that feeds into the cigarette lighter or the console power socket?

It looks like there is a group of wires that comes in from the front left side of the console (under the Stereo face). Half of the wires split away from the group and enter the connector that feeds the power socket next to the Aux Input.

Where do those wires originate? And are they at some point connected with the CD player at the power source?

Sorry about all the questions, but I'm a bit of Noob trying to avoid the dealership gouging me and trying to make me purchase an entire center-console assembly.

If the issue is related at all to a CD player replacement service, then I will probably try to get the dealership to fix it for free...

Multimeter is your friend. Test connections on the the inside of the socket, then down the wires. Keep going until you pinpoint the culprit.
