power drop off

I have had my ms3 for about 1 week now, and it feels remarkably slower now at 240 miles then it did the first few days. Any opinions? All of the hoses seem to be in order. Thanks. =(.

getting use to the power maybe. but it still has to break in. buy mods oncebroken in

yeah thats what i was thinking. its the breaking in period or whatever. i'm not to worried about it. I dont think its me getting use to it either because 3rd gear isnt pulling as hard as it did the first few days. but idk. i'm sure its nothing to get worked up about, its so early.

lol....bro listen to me.........

a good word of advice..buy a SRI or a CAI, BOV-BPV . . .

just with the cold air intake and blow off valve alone and you will feel the power diff for at least another 2 weeks

Good CAI or SRI = more power

BOV running vent to atmosphere = power loss.

Stock BPV works just fine for most of us. See my mods.

you shouldnt be feeling that much of a difference. Bring it in to the dealer and have them give it a once over. you have a warranty for this type of thing. While i will give some credit to what speedsixxx has said I am pretty sure this isn't your problem. I will say the same for the you getting used to the power theory. While warmer temps will cause some powerloss, it shouldnt make it feel significantly slower. Same goes with the getting used to the power theory. Sure it won't be as exciting as it was for the first 50 miles, but with only 240 miles on the OD, you aren't used to the power. I have 45k on mine and still get excited every now and then.

its cause ur used to the car already, same thing happened to me.. start modding youll feel it again

hmm. I was used to the power within a few hundred miles. But then I'm jaded as I've been in some powerful cars. I can tell when the car is down on power or not.

LTFT = long term fuel trims. The point of that remark is that it could just be your car adjusting the fuel trim to within safer levels perhaps reducing some of the power you felt initially. That may be part of it but probably not reponsible for a dramatic difference.

I will second, third, whatever the theory that HEAT is most likely your issue. Has the weather gotten hotter there since you started driving the car?

My car in the heat feels significantly slower. When the temps go up, and when the TMIC gets heat soaked and the Boost Air Temps are "high" the ECU switches to high temp maps, which reduce boost and other things. It is a big difference.

I have a dashhawk and if I have been driving for a little while and then have to wait at a traffic light for a few minutes - the car heat soaks badly. The boost air temps climb to 160+ This definitely pushes the ECU into high-temp maps, which will make the car feel a lot slower - because it is.

The best the tmic can do when you are moving, is keep the boost air temps to about 30* higher than ambient temps. This works great when it's 75 degrees out, as 105 BAT is within a cool enough range for the car to have nice power. But when it is 90, 100 outside...well you get the idea.

yeah. i was thinking that its all in my head.

well. It was kind of muggy.. not exactly hot, probably in the 60's, when I felt that it wasn't what it was the first few days.

Yup. The MS3 probably seemed like a rocket ship compared to your past cars...now you're just getting used to it. This is the same reason why people slap nitrous and turbos on Hayabusas...guess you can get used to anything at some point.

What are you shifting at and what gears are you feeling the lag or being slower? Try experimenting with your shifting and throttle usage. Turbo takes time to spool (if you are stock you dont hear it) and you could just be waiting for that making you think your car is slower.

well since I got it was planning on babying it until around 1k miles to start modding. i have been shifting at like 4k rpm's.. I am assuming it's all in my head.
