alright i have a question i just ran into a pothole last wendsay with my mazda3 and my steering got messed up so i took it into mazda to see what was wrong with it and they said my axle broke they want to charge me 2k for repairing it....can i take it to the city and write a note saying to them if they can pay for it or half of it this is messed up.. i need help any suggestions?

Take a picture of the pothole and of the damaged components and send it to the Department of transportation and ask for reimbursement. If you can cover the bill until the DOT coughs it up, you'll save yourself from having to claim this on your insurance as a collision.

yeah i already took pictures of it and the street but does it cost 2k to fix it? or is their any other places..

My parents tried that one time and our DOT wouldn't go for it. My dad bend a rim, end link, bent a control arm and needed an alignment after hitting a monster pot hole in his stock 05 grand am. I can only imagine hitting something like that in my slammed MSP. I would need a whole new car pretty much! Basically the city said they can't be held responsable for what he drove into which is BS that thing took up the whole ****** road and hes old he doesnt have the kind of reaction time or the type of suspension to dodge that ****** monster at the last second!! It sucks pretty bad, I'm sure if you actually pursued it you could get them to pay hopefully. Unfortunetly until they decide to fix up the roads or pay for damages I'll have to continue sitting up in my seat all action stance scanning the road intently for the inevitable pot hole I'll have to dodge. Thus scaring the s*** out of my GF perhaps slamming her head into the glass lol. Angry gf or thousands in damages, you be the judge!

i really hope they pay atleast for the axle even tho my rims are brand new and they got all messed up..i need a convincing story that will make them pay for it gahh -.-

Damn that sucks... I heard of similiar cases... All in all i believe you can claim it on your insurance to get it fixed... depending on your insurance it shouldn't go up... and a 2k quote would be excellent if making an insurance claim cuz you could get upgraded drive axles and do the repairs yourself plus much more....

had something similar about 2 years ago. when a tree branch fell across the h2 at 4am (covered 3 lanes) i wuz truckin at 65 and when i saw the branch i didn't want to slam the brakes so i just went over it. the state said it's like an act of god so t.s. my insurance covered, minus the 500 deductable. the damage: 5000+ the only good thing is my ins. didn't go up. i had to make a report, plus pics of my car and draw a map of the location. the ins. co tried to get their and my money back from the state but was unsucessful. guess what? now they're cutting and trimming the trees. ps i didn't think to make a popo report
