Post your computer specs!

I only go by real life bench marks, not artifical ones. I like knowing that my computer is protected from burning up.

Also, computers are slow, so even if the highest end most expensive AMD processor is 2% faster than the highest end Pentium, it doesn't matter because in 6 months both companies will up the speed. So in the end, your FX55 and my P4 both suck.

All I can do is compare my system to other systems for "relative speed". Even if my computer is running a P4 that's slower than the equivalent AMD processor, it's still faster than whatever most people are running.

If I switched to the AMD processor equivalent to my P4, I wouldn't notice a difference AT ALL. Companies like to trick you and pitch things like "5 FPS MORE!!!!!" ... well FPS go up and down, and that average 5 FPS you will not notice. Take a look at the Radeon X800 and X850. Sure, the X850 is better, but by how much? 100 dollars, and about 50mhz.

If you wait for the next Radeon card it will probably be twice as fast as the X850 and the price difference will probably be 100 dollars.

I just bought a new Dell; 2.8ghz P4, 1gig ram, 128mb AGP XE300 vid card, cd/dvd burner, and a 19inch CRT. With my discount from work it only cost me $800 for everything, which was the best price/power ratio after pricing out different systems from alienware, voodoo, and a custom setup NewEgg.com. I would have gone with NewEgg regardless of price, but I needed a PC up and running in a matter of 2 days and didn't want to have to deal with BIOS updates and driver installs and any hardware incompatability issues. After watching my buddies do it a week later, I wish I would have spent the extra 1-200 bucks for a uber system. I like the dell tho, it works great, and I have warranty incase it suddenly detonates.

alright...recently i upgraded comps but i upgraded to a mac. i purchased an apple powerbook g4 15 in. i got the 1.67 ghz procssor, 1 gig ram, 100 gb hd, dual 64 mb vid cards running at 128 mb, wireless mouse, back light keyboard, built in wireless and bluetooth. it is awesome. so far i have installed aim and world of warcraft. well let me tell you this thing impresses me...today i ran aim open with world of warcraft open in a smaller screen with no problems what so ever. this lappy is a bit smaller then my old dell inspiron 8500 and better in everyway! or so i think. well wish me luck in the new mac/apple world and i like the specs on the comps ive seen on this thread so far.
