post the fastest speed you got your turbo mp3 upto

...top speed lasts as long as you want it to (provided you don't crash, run out of gas, cops etc)...there are few moments in life that compare to going all out in your car...

Acceleration is like straight sex...

Top speed is like a romantic dinner...massage...4 play...lovin all night ;)

Draw your own conclusion boys...

LMAO!! :D Damn, that's funny... well put.

Well, as per the original topic. I haven't had my ride back long enough to take it out to the Sawgrass Xwy to test out my top end, but I'm sure I'll make it out there sometime this weekend. But I can tell ya, it gets up to 85-95mph REALLY fast! (10lbs of boost'll do that to ya) :D

its as important or more than acceleration
I kinda disagree. Top speed is just a show of the cars aerodynamic and gearing aspects. You can make a for escort go 200 miles per hour if you completely redesign the body of low drag and change out the gears. Acceleration to that top speed is where the raw power is shown off. If it was all about top speed, there would be no 1/4mile drag strips. All racing is about acceleration, even record setting salt flat runs. You have to get to that top speed pretty quick to make it count. So in my book, acceleration is everything.

If you look at the whole sentence...what I mean is to some people they care more about top speed then acceleration...not either is a better indicator of performance.

You can make a Honda run in the 8's if you build a tube chassis and a turbo the size of Texas...oh wait...been done already.

All racing is about acceleration, even record setting salt flat runs.

Landspeed racing is all about reaching a higher top speed in a specific class...everyone has to use a short or long course...just like most drag strips are 1/4 or 1/8 mile...its part of the rules...now for landspeed racing its about how fast can you go within the rules not how quick.

If Im correctI believe drag racing spawned from land speed racing on the salt flats...like in the so cal speed shop days and even earlier...before drag racing was actually a form of racing...crazy people were top speed racing on the beach or on the salt flats not long after the automobile was available. Top speed racing has been around since the automobile. People were fascinated with who can build a machine to go 100then 200then 300 and so on.

Just like in drag racingthere are class rules for landspeed racingLOTS OF RULESand this meansyoure not free to do whatever the hell you want to go fastyou have use whats available (depending on the class)as in my case with a 200 mph p5Ive posted that aerodynamic mods are LIMITED to a front spoiler and maybe a mid spoiler and a few other small thingsthats it for the 2 classes I want to run in. Look at the progress civicnothing special. But these tight rules are what adds real challenge and tests the knowledge/skill of the competitors. As Im typing this the progress civic is gunning for 200 mph.

Sorryoff topic herejust had to state my opinionI will always love drag racing tooboth are equally important to me.

Um I think I know what I am driving and did you not see the list of mods I have done to my car???

Some how I dont think an AEM short ram is even comparable to a TURBO, and those crappy headlights wont help you go any faster

I drive a GEO and it Goes 115 (the speedo goes to 85 I had a friend following me in a car with a better speedo), come on, I can surely believe that a TURBO Mp3 can go 140,

maybe you have a dead cat in your short ram thats preventing you from going faster

I tell you this, I've driven my Protege5 way past 110, more like 125mph. I can say this because I was clocked, warned by the cop and shown the radar gun. Car and Driver listed the top speed of a Pro5 as 121, and they were a little off. An MP3 has to go faster than that.

yeah for sure some of my freinds with their civics mode them up and there cars go faster and beat most cars that hadve higher speeds then them. An mp3 can for sure be modded to go 140, look at the mazdaspeed is suppose to have a governor at 130 so it people dont go faster than that, so basically they put that on because it could go faster than 130

Car and Driver has tested the MP3 twice:

(November issue)
0-60mph 8.3sec
1/4mile 16.5sec@84mph
Topspeed 120mph

(September issue)
0-60mph 8.2sec
1/4mile 16.3sec@85mph
Topspeed 116mph

As you can see the Topsped from september 2001 was listed at 116mph at probably 3000+miles, then when they tested it again in November it had probably more miles and hit 120mph. So now you are saying you were not trying to go that fast, just only 110mph. (scratch)

When I posted the first time I should have made it more clear I guess. When I said I only got it up to 110 that is the fastest I have gone in my mp3. Not the fastest I have tried to go.... Get it, It might go faster I don't know but I do know that I saw the top speed in the back of some Car and Driver Mag that said 110mph. I am saying that 110 is my fastest speed not the cars thats all. By the way they just did an article about the new Mazdaspeed Protege and said that it's top speed is 130.

no turbo...stock mp3...REALLY long road.....just under 130 mph....then I ran out of road and had to slow down.

So, that article is another pos article from that mag
