i bet the turbo makes it go faster, cause i was reading about someone who got there mp3 up to 135 he just had the japan engine in his.

This was me, and I have gotten it up to 140 MPH also racing..I mean smoking a 2000 Eclipse. I have since then have not been that fast. I think I hit a dog yesterday on the way home from running errands. Jag61180 had just changed out my break pads, and I was trying to break them in. The little thing ran out from nowhere! After that, I was like, "What if that would have been a kid..my daughter?" :'(

I just don't really care to go that fast on public roads and kill familys in minivans like the dumbass kids around Dallas do all the time. A kid just died last week here in Dallas because he was racing on a residential street and he hydroplaned on the water from someone's sprinkler system. Talk about a wasted life. The news said his mom went crazy when she had to ID the body that was still in the front half of the car that was wrapped around a tree in someones yard. Would you like to have your family have to do that?

Go for a closed track, or an extremely rural road that you KNOW. It's not really ever TRULY safe when using a public road, however. Be careful, guys.

And BTW, I've been up to 125 stock, it took FOREVER to get there.

I have no problem with going over 100mph on roads that have next to no traffic, but I have people passing me all the time here in Dallas going over 100 on the highway with tons of traffic around. 90mph is my limit on the Highways of Dallas with light traffic. But that's just going with the flow here in Dallas. You don't dare go under 70 or you will get run over. But when I see kids weaving wildly in and out of traffic going at least 90 to 100, a part of me wants them to wreck. The way I see it, if they wreck and die, that's one less idiot kid that can kill me by smashing into me at 90 on the highway.

Yea when I was goin to San Diego I let my dad drive at like 1 am. Sheeze it was like a ghost town on the 4 lane highway. So yea I wake up and he's pushin 120. Yup I drove after that. hehe. I've gotten my MP3 up to 140. It took a while to get there, but it got there, and was right at redline. At the time, all I had done was injen intake.

You might have been at 140 if you were wide open going down the side of a mountain!!!!

I had mine at 110 wide open for about 10 miles and it didn't move from 110-112 the whole time on flat highway.

Just because the speedometer goes up to 140 doesn't mean the car can do 140.

:bs: The Top speed on a 2001 Protege is not 110mph and i know for a fact that aint the T-Speed cause everyone on here know's the MP3 can go well over 120+++Mph but it just takes a while and depending if your on a level straight road, the Humidity and if your car is broken miles or not. When i had 8,000++miles on the car i could only get it to 115-117mph then after i got like 13,000miles on the puppy i hit 125mph Stock beating a Old 92 Maxima with his car loaded with people and me by myself with mine and my dad's bowling ball equipment. Anyways after coming back from washington state it was me, and my dad driving back here to cali, and i saw a hyundai Elantra GLS and Sante fe going at hit, so i caught up to them like at 100mph they we're both just like right there, and i think couldn't push over that limit cause they had passengers in the vehicle but i just smashed on the pedal going on an incline at got to 130mph. And know i have a Injen CAi at 19,653miles on it.

where did you read this bullsh#$% to? I don't care much about driving fast either. Acceleration is more my thing as well. But, back when I first the car, at about 7000kms, even then i could pull over 125. Like the guys said...it takes a while, but you get there. The car was stock as well. That was last summer and I was playing with the car during one of the first times I went for a long trip on the highway. Haven't tried since. Like I said, I don't care about going that fast. Too many moose around here. From what I seen that day, she should hit at least 130...but I ran out of road.

my car is all stock.... and if anyone knows the buffalo area the roads here suck so i dont like to go fast but on the 219 i got my car up to 125 easy..... i was late for work and had to pass a lot of people on the way too...... i dont like to do that s*** though cause it was def crazy.....

Um I think I know what I am driving and did you not see the list of mods I have done to my car??? I have only had mine up to 110-113. So I found it a little odd that you said 140mph that struck me when Car and Driver mag said that the top speed is 110mph and Mazda agreed when I called to ask my production # for my MP3. Thats all man if you are telling the truth than there is no need to get all wound up, good for you that you had it at 140 you get the gold star for speed demons.

I know how to drive just as well as I know what my car is I was in 5th and I wasn't trying to go as fast as I could that is just as fast as I have gone. It was in a Car and Driver mag at the back they listed back issues and results of some cars they tested.

Car and Driver has tested the MP3 twice:

(November issue)
0-60mph 8.3sec
1/4mile 16.5sec@84mph
Topspeed 120mph

(September issue)
0-60mph 8.2sec
1/4mile 16.3sec@85mph
Topspeed 116mph

As you can see the Topsped from september 2001 was listed at 116mph at probably 3000+miles, then when they tested it again in November it had probably more miles and hit 120mph. So now you are saying you were not trying to go that fast, just only 110mph. (scratch)

Dude, who really care about how fast the top speed is. We shoud be more concerned with how fast our cars get to thier top speed. Just my thoughts though. I mean, sure we might be able to get to 140mph on a chilly day with a 25mph wind out or backs, but the question we shoud be thinking about is how long did it take us to get there. If the amount of time it takes us to get to 110, faster cars can go to 0-120-0. So acceleration should be the main concern, just like Spoolin.

Top Speed may not be AS popular a form of showing a cars potential but to some its as important or more than acceleration.

Just like with acceleration your trying to achieve a shorter and shorter time...with top speed your trying to reach a higher and higher speed...I love acceleration but I also love the moment when your pushing your car to the limits...engines almost maxed out...every sense in your body is on alert...you can feel the CONSTANT flow of power from the pedal to the engine and on to the wheels...acceleration happens so quickly...top speed lasts as long as you want it to (provided you don't crash, run out of gas, cops etc)...there are few moments in life that compare to going all out in your car...

Acceleration is like straight sex...

Top speed is like a romantic dinner...massage...4 play...lovin all night
