coolio bro. I still need to take some quality pics somewhere down there....hopefully in the next couple weeks.

Not bad. I made my wind splitter for free.

looks good, did you use the garage door seal too?

I wonder if it's safe to use the 3m tape. Will it hold high speeds?

where in san diego are you? you should come through to the bi weekly thursday night meets

Well I live a couple hours north right now but I come home (Rancho Bernardo) on the weekends usually. I should be moving back though soon so i will definately have to check it out. Where ya guys meet up?

Heck no. Mine is the real stuff. A high grade, thick plastic. Held in place with mounting screws just like the real MSP splitter.

Jeg, I see you have the same fitment issue as with all DGM lips. I used a Dremel tool to fix mine by simply sanding off some material underneath.

2 ways to think about that question that I can think of off the bat:
1) The 3M tape is designed to hold molding and other small pieces of the vehicle while offering less weight and being less obvious than their mechanical counterparts.
The 1" tape is capable of holding up to1lb/4" used and last 5-7 yrs. The front end lip requires approx 6.5', or 78" which roughly translates into 19.5lbs of holding power horizontally. A garage door seal weighs, what, about 1-2lbs @ most and is soft, and flexible?
By comparison, the side moldings are held on by 2 strips (top & bottom) approx 1/4" wide ea.
2) Should the tape fail @ high speeds what would happen?
a) The piece it's holding would begin to fall and offer warnings in the form of visual and auditory before failing completely.
b) Should the piece fall off, it would likely fall to the ground. It being a soft piece of material (foam/rubber) what harm would be done... except a bit of litter. Even if caught by the wind would it be any worse than any other road debis? Flying rocks, like the ones that have put chips and dents in my hood, come to mind.

When I installed my OEM appearance package, all the parts had both double sided tape and hardware to mount them. Simply put, never just use the tape.

Thanks, I don't know if this shop will really want to tape off my whole front end like they said they needed too so if I have to take off the lip to get it painted I will definately mess around with that. Did you change the shape at all or just thin it out there?

cool shot! but for some reason I just dont like hdr shots that are lacking in much color, they tend to seem bland

colorful shots always seem to look best with hdr
