is that a piece of lexan over your amp to protect it from crap...? if so how do you keep it from gettin scratched? or is it polycarbonate? i work with lexan a lot and am hesitant to use it b/c it scratches so easily and i want my trunk to be somewhat servicable...

btw i have a hatch as well....

Hey if you like the look of the plexiglass over the amp, there is a few ways of doing it. It can be done in plexiglass (cheapest), Acrylic (middle) or Glass (most expensive). I do a lot of glass carving and you could actually have the glass engraved with logos, or text or any type of graphic. It looks pretty bad ass, especially if you get some colored lights, to shine into the glass. This is photoshoped, but something like this:

Well, for some reason, I can't add an attachment.

i use lexan a lot at work, and it scratches so easily... polycarbonite... is a lot more brittle (harder) but it still scratches just not as easily... didn't really think about glass but what would i do, go to a local glass shop and ask for a certian size piece... then bring it to some one else to etch? i do like the look of etching but i always thought it was just lexan or the like and wondered how hard it would be to keep it looking nice...

Ok, here is the picture. My file was too big. It is done in photoshop, so it's doesn't look very realistic. Anyway, if you want to go with glass, I would suggest 1/4" - 3/8". It depends on how much you want to spend and what you want it to look like. The thicker the glass, the deeper you can etch. I would say that 1/4" is fine, 3/8" would just give you a little extra durability. I would say that I could do the etching for you, but I know you are kind of far away. If you are interested, send me a message and maybe we could work something out. I could give you a pretty good deal. If it works well, I'm hoping that I could market this to my local audio shops.

The blue on the logo is supposed to represent blue LED lights. When this thing is lit at night, it would look pretty bad ass!

well looks like i am going with the glass look... i am going to be installing all of my stuff this weekend, between moving and having to wait for some stuff to come in, then changing shiat around b/c of back orders, i am all set, and i made the amp rack last weekend to hold the 3 amps... i should be able to take some in process pics (parents took the digi on vacation and not sure when they will be back) but if i can't there will defffinatly be some all done (thank god) pics.... finaly i can finish this and get my car back together... wish me luck...
