2003.5 Blazing Yellow MSP (Forged)
Tonight my MSP took a big s***! After about an 8 mile trip my car started knocking like hell. This sucks. Boost was stock. Not totally sure what has happened because this was at like midnight. Guess I'll get it ready tomorrow to go to the dealership on monday.

Rob that sucks, its because you took out the rear deck isn't it? Like Danny said, let me know if you need some help. Haven't seen you in a bit.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna see if Mazda will fix it under warranty, but I know that alot of people have had a hard time with that. If they will not, then I guess I'm gonna have the first MAM short block in GA. That will hurt my pocket really bad though, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

MSP is at the dealership, but still no word...
The tech that initially looked at it and listened to it run thought that it was something in the top end of the motor rather than a rod or bearing, but it sounded lower to me. I talked to them today and they said that they had to call the tech line and were waiting for them to call back. Not sure what this means, but the service advisor said that they will probably call me back sometime today. Not knowing is killing me.

Yeah, I know, its not good. Souded like a loud-ass ticking noise. Sorry if I sound ignorant, but this is the first problem like this I have ever had with any of my cars.

Yes because the mechanics assemble each car at the dealership.

Update:
I was right, it was not the top end, it was something worse. Before they go any further the dealer is requiring me to provide all oil change receipts. This is not a problem. Today I had the shop I use pull up their records on my car and print copies of all my oil change invoices. They said they would have no problem talking to mazda if I need them to. In the morning I'm taking those copies to the dealer and I guess I'll see what they are going to do.

Update:
Well, I took them the oil change invoices and now they made me OK the labor to tear the motor down. The service manager said that it would be covered so long as there is not evidence that I sprayed nitrous or something when they look at the internals. If they find this "evidence", then I'll be responsible for like $500 labor (sucks). This seems strange to me, who would spray nitrous on these cars. I am positive I've never done that. However, I believe that they are trying to not cover the motor and are looking for any way to justify their actions. This is not much fun at all. I can not wait until I know something for sure. Hopefully they will call me back today.

Update:
Just heard from the service manager earlier today (about 2 hours ago) and he said that after giving all my oil change records to the regional rep, they decided not to tear down my motor and instead they were going to perform some kind of inspection of the pistons using some sort of visual probes. They said that by doing this, they could tell if nitrous had been sprayed (still don't know where they got this idea, lol). If there was no indication of this, then everything would be covered.

I just heard back again from the service manager and he told me that it passed and there were no signs of nitrous (still funny to me), so everything is getting covered. He said that they had just ordered the new shortblock, that it should be here Tuesday and that turnaround time for the swap will be 3-4 days. He then apologized about the hassle and explained that this process is required by MNAO. He also thanked me for my cooperation, maturity, and basically for not freaking out. All I can say is that I'm kind of in shock. I guess that not acting like an asshole to people pays off.

Rob thats awsome, really good news, so you should be back on the road soon and with new internals (whole block). right on!
