Hey. I know of a guy in Toronto with a machine shop, etc who is looking for some work. I told him about our clunk situation, and showed him the URL of Racing Beat's Project MP3. He seems willing to fab clones of the Racing Beat parts for us, as long as we can get him a car to fab them on...

Here is his most recent reply to me...

Hi, looks like there are three parts: the endlink, endlink bracket, and the sway bar bracket. The protype shown have had absolutely no CNC work on them, they are basically just steel bent ,drilled, and welded, with the exception of the end link, which can be fabricated with standard off the shelf parts.

Initial brackets would have to be just saw-cut and hand bent to check functionality, after that they could be machined from solid steel or aluminum, or simply LASER cut from sheets and bent and welded with jigs (this probably being more cost effective).

The best method to attack this would be to actually have a set ( I am assuming there is a left and right set) and copy them. Otherwise, as you suggest, I would have to have a vehicle to actually do a mockup and test the setup with.

I am in Canada, there would be no actual work involved for my machine (unless the brackets were machined from solid aluminum or steel), but I have been in the manufacturing sector long enough to be able to coordinate this. The only draw-back - I have no access to a car hoist - which would greatly simplify the process.

If there is someone in the Toronto or Kitchener (prefererd) area I would like to have a look at the vehicle to get a better idea of the actual requirements.

So basically we need a volunteer with a clunk and an MSP or MP3...and I'd also like to know how many people would be interested in purchasing this solution, assuming it fixed out problem.

arnt we all waiting for the current fix MC and RB is working on?
remember we will get warranty for the fix MC/RB comes up with but if we do the fix you are talking about... Maybe Mazda will just void our warranty for later work on the sway bar... etc..

If its not too much i would buy it, Just to get it over with. I have been driving around with this clunk for soo long. I guess it depends on Newfs progress. I know this is mazda responsiblity, but if it is reasonable i would buy it.

This is my plan too.
I'm handy, and a friend 10 minutes away from me has all the same equipment this guy has.
When my clunk arrives, and the dealer (and MC) won't/can't fix it, we're going to get creative with the pics from RB's site, and my car.
I will inform people when/if this happens, and if people want parts, I can set something up.

im very interested, i dont really care about the warranty anymore, it doesnt fix it. let me know. i would volunter but im in MO.

Well guys, in regards to the warranty, we don't even know if they WILL do anything yet...and even if they did say there were gonna fix it today, our cars wouldn't be fixed for some time. Us MP3 guys have waited well over a year now.
