I knew that "hack" since I bought a Prius for my wife back in 2005.
For our Prius, you don't need to burn a new disc. You do a bit sing and dance, and you
can get into 'test mode', in which you can deactivate lock-out.
However, you need to "sing and dance" every time again every time you re-start the engine.
Such "sing and dance" has not been found for CX9, whose NAVI system is also made by Denso.
Anyway, I prefer a hardware hack that requires no "sing and dance".
A hardware hack can be done by an electronic device that generates fake VSS pulses that
cheats the system into thinking that the speed is 4mph (or less, i.e. <5mph), therefore, allowing
data entry. When entry is done, switch back to true VSS pulses. The solution is generic, and
can fool any system that lock out by speed. There is a purple wire behind the NAVI system. That is
the VSS input. Just insert a device before the input.
There is a blueprint of a very simple circuit that involves a 555 timer and a few resistors and capacitors.
A variable resistor should also be included to tune the threshold. Search by google. I am sure it is not that
difficult to find.
I just don't feel enough pain to do it yet....
