****. Perhaps we could post what has been working for us? 2014 cx-5 models only.

Ipod, usb stick or fairy dusted mp3s... also capacity and model of ipod and also space used on it, same goes for usb stick. That way we could have all the fun info in one spot. Or has this been done?

Been going through most posts about these issues. I though I saw in a post that someone had figured out a way of making these work. My issue is loading time. Ipod plugged into usb takes about 2 mins with 12gb of songs. USB stick is longer. Did I imagine seeing this post about good results?!?! Had the car snce Friday. I love everything about it but this is a bit of a problem. Once it loads it works great.
Would appreciate either a link to said post or perhaps a way you were able to get fast load times.

Thank you

I haven't seen such a post, maybe you have confused a post from a 2013 owner which doesn't have the issue?

I've come to the conclusion with the usb stick that's its better to load less songs and have more sticks, that way it loads quicker and its quicker to locate a song you want.

When I still had the factory head unit, with my iPod Nano and with a USB stick the load time for ~1200 songs was around 20 seconds. Maybe that is what you recall seeing? My issue was the non-resuming part of it, never the load times and that's how it was from day one. I didn't do anything to make it load faster because I didn't have to.

I have roughly the same amount of songs. Might be the ipod (1st gen) and usb brand. thanks for the reply

20 seconds is too long for me, when I get in the car start it up next thing music on, I want my song list available immediately, I've never yet been anywhere that enables me to listen to 1200 songs.

I think a master stick is a good idea to store all songs on but not for every day use.

Being new to this USB music lark I originally bought a 16gb stick and put 4gb of music on it, start up time was pretty quick, but since I've doubled that the delay is noticeable.

I would given a choice go back to a six CD player, never really found I needed more than 6 cds, and my last car would play MP3 disks anyway.

Good luck with that.

The Kenwood unit that I put in takes about 10 seconds to load the 1200 songs, which I find both acceptable and the norm compared to other vehicles I have owned.

I've never yet been anywhere that enables me to listen to 1200 songs.
I'm not sure what this means. Are you the person that has like 200 playlists with 5/10/30 songs each? Whether it is you or not, THAT sounds frustratingly complicated to me.

Two things I find with this USB lark.

Apart from the frustration of starting at the beginning every time.

The other is waiting for the list to start up, I didn't find much of a delay when I only had 4gb loaded, but doubling it certainly is noticeable, so I wish I hadn't done it.

I also find locating a desired song while driving near impossible given the number of albums etc.

Hope that's clearer.

Why not use the bluetooth? I connect my iphone through bluetooth and it works and sounds great. It connects in a few seconds and remembers where it was. I also use Spotify premium ($10 / month) for more music on it that I could ever listen to.

If you don't have a bluetooth enabled ipod, you can buy a bluetooth dongle that plugs into the headphone port for $14 according to google. Most phones these days can be loaded with music and virtually all of them support bluetooth.
