Porting stock s-pipe.

Has anyone done this? Is there pre-cat material inside the s-pipe? Any other complications?
A guy at apexr1.com explained to me that they had fabbed a ported s-pipe for the MSP and it produced no gains. Therfeore they did not produce it. They start with the downpipe back. He said the s-pipe looks restrictive, but it actually isn't.
???

Hmm, I'm still gonna take it off next weekend to see what it looks like inside. If its rough or anything I'm gonna port it.

if you want ill go into corksport 2morrow, they have one sitting in there show room, i can snap some pics.

There is nothing in it, its just straight thru, and i didnt find it to look all that restrictive at all.

who knows ? maybe it's just the purpose of his mission to make sure those molecules get a nice and smooth ride out of his turbo..

If youre gonna port something, port the exhaust and intake manifolds. Im sure theyres flow gains to be made there. :)

Let me know how it goes porting the manifolds.
My buddy just got a die grinder to port his exhaust manifold and and exhaust ports on his miata, and im sure this summer on a hot lonely day we'll pull off the MSPs manifolds and have fun.

when we pulled off the exhaust manifold the other day we were going do some work to it, but there wasnt really much to do. Its pretty much as good as it will get, relatively smooth and open. Anything that could be done would be pretty minimal.

I want to post some pics here shortly. It's of the ford cast downpipe versus the one I bought for my car...This is just a T3 turbo we're talking about so the difference is minimal, but you can see the size difference.

brb.

This is not the same "S"pipe on the T25, but you get an idea of what can be done with the appropriate flange...I planned on making these for the MSP's but sadly didn't want to become a vendor to do so....If there is interest in these I may change my mind.

I won't do the AMM thing because it's a waste of my money to pay $10/month on the off chance that I may get to sell one of these!! You have to admit it looks nice huh?? I'd need a loaner MSP to make sure it'll mat up to the stock MP.....

<- Loaner, you could test fit it the day after the meet if you're coming, like I said you can stay at my place if you want.
