is it possible to port and polish the old style MAF box?


also, is it possible to P&P the head, intake, TB, and anything else that may need porting and polishing and still pass smog in cali?


im looking to make my car have more pull all through the rpm's since i cannot find too many performance parts for my 1988 626 with a 12v 2.2

if anyone has a link or what not to headers or tips, please let me know


and.... is it true that the exhaust manifold from a kia "suv" which also used or uses a mazda 2.2 is a big improvement over OEM

Anything is possible, Kyle aka spicymchaggis, made his MAF 1 cm bigger and got some decent gains. Talk to him about it, he seems to be the only one doing it.

you have an old style metal maf don't you? If so. Yes it can be done. It yields suprising results. But be forwarned..This project will require the use of an intake, worked maf, and a worked throttlebody in order to make it work correctly.

i hear that it is possible to change the box type MAF out for a newer style?

the one i am thinking about is the type that basicaly looks like a pc of pipe that uses a fine wire inside that i guess viberates with the changing air speed, i think the new protoget

Me and a buddy of mine just put a bored out MAF and honed out throttlebody on his audi 90. On the metal tube style maf's, you can remove the screen and tap the sensor into the top of maf tube. The only problem with this is, you need to do the throttlebody as well, and maybe even a velocity stack in the intake pathway. There ends up being a lot of turbulent air in the pathway causing hesitation problems. I will post a pic tonight of what I'm talking about.
