popped ur hood lately?

Razor, those red hose covers are nothing more than red wire loom. Check online im sure you can find TONS of places that sell it.

As for the question regarding electronics and problems ... take the time to cover as much of the electronics (and intake filter) as you can. The spark plug boots dont seal off very well against the valve cover and water can and will get down into the wells. This will short the plugs out and the car will basically drop cylinders as it fires. The result ... engine shaking, stalling ... burnt plugs. Its easy to fix since you just need to dry the wells out and replace the plugs, but its something you can avoid. This is the main reason as to why I was against the Wings West Evo hood. They did address the problem but their final product, imho, leaves alot to be desired.

yes i agree those metal mesh things are nasty...but, anyways, you could easily paint those with paint from paintscratch.com...so all im looking for is wire loom? im not sure what would work or match if you found me a cheap place to order from, lets just say id be eternally grateful

Ive honestly never seen them in a color that comes even close to Laser Blue ... you can easily do red since you have accents already in it. There is also chrome loom out there (Street Glow) if you so choose.

Your cheapest place online to get it would probably be JC Whitney for the colored stuff. You can also search good ol Ebay.

The chrome stuff from S/G is kinda $$ - you can order it direct from them or search google since I know other places have it too. I picked up a misc. sized bag of the chrome stuff at the Nopi Nationals last year for a few bux. I only use loom tho for places near the bottom of the engine and for lines that are barely visible just to give the engine an overall better appearance. When looking at my engine you wont even notice its there until I point it out to you .. or when I remove it and you notice that "something" has changed.

In all honesty, silicone replacement hoses are the way to go -- I have the full Hose Techniques kit in white. Its a much nicer way to dress the engine. Downside is that not all hoses/lines can be done -- like those 2 big ones on the left side of the bay.

yeah still dont have those cams installed....they are getting ground as we speak ;) well sorta....i'll be getting them back last this week coming. so the mods done in that sig picy and the gutted pre-cat is it a the moment...that 103.5whp was in much less than ideal conditions. when i get the cams back i'm still trying to see if i have the money to get my head ported before i put the cams in or just put the cams in straight away and get the head ported later.

but back to the topic, atleast i dont have to worry about the spark plug wells... here in aus we get the pretty plastic head cover like the mp3, yay for me! so protege5gurly, is that the only electrical bits you worry about covering??? (and the air filter ofcourse, that goes without saying)

Yea, when I wash the engine down the filter gets a few plastic shopping bags rubber-banded over it and a garbage bag is pulled down over the valve cover to the top of the exhaust shield -- obviously done with a COLD engine.

To do the 2 big hoses on the left side of the engine you will need that Taylor loom. It has a split running the length of the loom so you just slide it over what you want to cover.

The Pilot replacement hoses are used to REPLACE hoses on the engine -- mainly vac lines. You can see what I replaced in my pics -- all the hoses are white. I would recommend getting the protege5 specific kit from Hose Techniques if you want to do hose replacement. The kit includes all the sizes you will need plus the tools to install. The kit from HT isnt cheap, but its QUALITY -- the Pilot hoses loose their color.

The attached pic is that exact Taylor kit installed on my bf's cougar ... its an old pic. The inline image is the engine bay's current look ;)

You can see how much cleaner it looks with the Hose Techniques Vs. the loom.

oops nm i just saw that was the link i posted lol...it definately looks cleaner, i wonder if anyone makes something as clean as the HT for the big hoses

Nope .. there isnt a thing out there ive found so far. I believe the black over them currently is an insulation. The only choice is to use loom to cover it up -- thats why mine is left black, plus having some black lets the chrome stand out more.

Yea me and Pirana were running neck and neck til he got that turbo ... thats my next project since my body mods (MintBlue kit) are done. However, EVERY part of my turbo kit that can be chromed or polished will be. I just wish he would chrome that intake pipe that runs over the top of the engine!

Protege5gurly, I will chrome it, but its a rough cast, and I do not know how it will look. It will get done for the next show season.

"anal?" just picky!

What do you use to keep it looking so clean? I don't think spraying something and then hosing it down can be good for you car can it? Mine is pretty clean since I bought it brand new and would like it to stay that way.
