Poor AUX connection in MS3?

I just got an ms3, and the volume on my ipod tends to drop, and stay their. Is it my AUX connection, or the AUX cable I am using? (radio shack brand)

I'm not sure I completely follow you...

The volume that's coming out of the speakers will randomly drop and stay there? Yet the "Volume" on the iPod and the Headunit themselves don't change?

it's probably the auto ALC (auto level control?) reducing the volume when you slow down...Does the volume just decrease randomly or is it when you slow down for a light or something while driving?

the ALC isnt THAT noticable

I actually like it.... that in combination with the JL audio cleansweep (Calibrated with ALC off) it adds a realllly nice EQ to the music.

Untill I get a REAL EQ that is...

That was it, but now I notice fairly loud feedback in "media" mode. Sometimes I get lucky by turning the AUX cable plugged into the pod to get it to stop, but then it comes back again. I was thinking about trying an Ipod AUX with a gold end, not the radio shack silver end I am currently using. Anyone have this same problem?

It is ground loop feedback. You have your iPood plugged into your cig lighter I'm guessing. You can get a ground loop isolator that will clean up all that noise. Under $20.

Supposedly you can get a $40 ipod kit that will output the sound through the conneciton chack to the aux jack rather than the headphone to aux jack and it improves the sound.

I can max out the volume on my bose speakers in the MS3 with my ipod and it isn't even close to loud... so I will probably look into that kit.

ALC has modes 1 - 3, and 3 could be noticeable.

Check for that and disable, its a crock of s*** anyway.

My ALC is off and the volume still lowers when I slow down at a traffic lights. I think it's the fact that My volume has to be so high when I use my Ipod through the Aux jack.

I think that is pretty common. I have 3 different MP3 players and use them on several systems and each of them has to be cranked to max volume to playback at the same level as a CD, radio, etc.

It's just annoying when the ALC still seems to function when I turned it off. Oh well time for the Ipod Adapter.

the ALC for some odd reason will always be turned to on when in AUX mode...

Even if you set it to off, the software will still enable it.
