a really interesting book that is less trying to convince anyone of anything and more just telling an good story is 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven' by Mitch Albom. I picked it up simply because of how good 'Tuesdays with Morrie' was and really liked it. anyone who's looking for a good, short book might want to check them out

Nobody can force the truth to anyone. We are free to chose. Not even God forces anyone. He gaves us all freewill.
BTW, "Tuesdays with Morrie" is a good book.

Raised Catholic (the only way to be raised in a Latin American country), grown to be skeptical.
I too saw nothing in church and was tired of seeing people going just to pay lip service and then returning to their normal lives of not being very nice to others.
I stopped going to church a while ago and still haven't gone back.

I'm starting to feel a loss in my life now, just an emptyness. I was very bitter, judgmental, and gossipy throughout college and after. Even though I'm a nice person it had left me very cold and non-sympathetic towards others.

I guess I was too proud and cocky. Then when you screw up big you see that you're not that perfect, it humbles you, and you realize that we are all in the same boat - there's something out there that is just bigger than each one of us. I want to feel that faith and love again, and whenever I do I see myself treating others in a much more genuinely nicer way than before. You can actually feel the care you transmit to others.

I believe in an afterlife, but I feel like I just need to concentrate on making life better right now, for me and for others that touch my life.

Religions have done nothing but divide us among ourselves. Man have manipulated the truth. There is only one truth. The truth can be found in each and everyone of us. It is a matter of believing.
Nothing can be created from scratch. There is a creation AND a evolution.
Believe in God and He will guide you. Ask Him and He will respond. But ask with faith.

Many times people like to be in deniel and decide that they do not believe when they actually do believe, thinking that by acting this way something will make them change their minds. It is just natural human behavior.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 - The living are conscious they will die, the dead are conscious of nothing at all

damn, totally missed this thread. afterlife huh?? dont know, pretty hard to disprove or prove. But I'd like to think that the measly 70 some odd years we spend here on earth is not the end. I mean come on, 70 years, in a whole eternity is nothing. I follow no religion so I'm not gonna say afterlife is bad/good, hell/heaven, but I like to think this is not the end, rather the beginning. Maybe some excersize(not really but who knows). Then again this can just be the optimist in me(which is little but shines through once in a while)
