Police RX-8!!!

On the way home from school today, sweet blue RX-8 pulled along side. I was thinking that's pimp, it pulled ahead a little further and low and behold, the thing has police badging all over it along with the popo flashers on top. I was like WTF?! Since when does our city have cash to blow on cars like that? I noticed a Mazda 6 cop car a while ago too... Does anyone have any idea why our city has these cars? It said something about kids on the side... What was wierd was that the car seemed to be the manual version, it was rolling backwards when it stopped... I wonder why our city even has one, they should be spending that money on damned pot holes or sumthin.... Anyways, just wondering what you guys know about it?

Hell yea... but seriously... how many high speed chases happen in Calgary... and what are the chances that the RX-8 will be within dispatchable distance... Knowing Calgary cops they'll just call the chase off as soon as it begins, "to ensure public safety"... Our cops are panzies... Well... most of them anyways... But then I guess I shouldn't bash them too much, whenever they mess up it makes the news, when they do something good we just say they're doing thier job...

Ever been on the Deerfoot at night? I believe a part of it is called: INTIMITATON FACTOR. Just my 3 cents. Looked cool though eh?(glare)

Hey,
Acctually I saw that RX-8 at the autoshow earlier this month, it was in with the Mazda Display up on a platform, they had a mirror under the front end of the car (it does not look stock !!). The police here have lots of cash, they did after all buy a Hummer (not a crappy H2 but an acctual Hummer) just for recuruiting. Intimidation is a huge part, a few summers ago just on our beloved 'DEERFOOT 500', I was cruising along and just merging up ahead was a beautiful '93 RX-7, emerald green, veilside kit, blacked out windows, just done up. I speed up a little to take a closer look i'm in the middle lane, it's in the right. Just as I'm pulling up beside it, a Mustang goes flying by ( I was doing about 120 to catch up to the ReX), I look again at the RX-7 and the Cherries pop on and it takes off after the Stang. A few intersections up I see the Stang on the side, ReX behind (lights going), and a cop standing at the window of what I would assume was a very shocked driver. I now pay much closer attention to the tell-tale signs of a ghost car.
Cheers

damn, im moving to canada to become a cop

maybe mazda donates cars to this particular town for police use????

I was thinking about this (saw a photo radar minivan today).. those minivans aren't cheap either.. you can spend 35k CAD on a minivan relatively easily... 2004 rx-8 starts at 37.. and the rx-8 is probably WAY more effective for catching speeders (who expects an rx-8 to be a cop?? everyone speeds up to see it!).. seems like money well spent to me..

I'm pretty sure that Mazda gives them huge deals on those cars for the right to put some stickers on...and these aren't full time patrol cars, they are community awareness cars. Kinda like the anti-graffiti VW beetle cop car. They take something like the RX-8 to elementary schools to make the kids think that cops are cool.
