"Plug and Play" engine management

Anyone know of any engine management systems for the Protege that's 'plug & play' (uses the stock sensors and harness)? I know AEM's is good for the Miata and the RX-7, but was wondering if anyone knew of anything similar for the Protege.

perfworks developed a piggyback system for us, I think when he left his Protege5 someone took over, you can give him a ring I suppose.

Juan at HiBoost is working on one that just plugs into the stock harness that utilizes the Haltech E6X. Also, the Piggyback system that Perfworks used had to be wired it rather than plugged in.

I am working out some tech issues with Tariq over at Electro-systems USA...The North American distributor of New Zealand's Link engine controllers, a huge WRC team provider...

I am working on cracking the sensor types for the crank position sensor and cam position sensor, and the overall trigger wheel system...any help anyone has will be very beneficial...

Also the good news...The Link engine controller sells for $625!!! with a needed $80 wiring loom and a not yet confirmed harness adapter board (that utilizes the stock engine harness, and plugs it into the Link's loom, they claim they never made one that exceeded $200)...

The Link2, which offers more functions, slightly higher resolution, and more control sell for $900, with the addtion of the above wiring issues..

If I can work this tech s*** out, or if anyone else can...it will be a %100 plug and play full stand alone that utilzis the stock tach (the Link2 definately can, not sure yet on the standard Link) and alternator...with more functions and resolution than a Haltech E6X, learning ability, and programming with an optional $70 digital in dash controller (laptop allows the data-loggin, but adjustements can be made without one) for cheaper than a decent hood...

I also contacted AEM about the EMS plug and play system...I asked if they would ever make one for the FS...his response "defintaly not any time soon, we have not sold as many EMS's as predicted for the more popular engines..."

Not suprising on either front...They go for an MSRP of nearly $2300 for most cars (a professionally installed E6X would be cheaper than that by far), and not many people are interested in stand alones for Fs's anyway...

Welcome to the party. . .we're all waiting for something like that.

There are a number of variations going on. We have Links, Microtechs, Haltechs, and Perfect Power unit in use already on this forum, but none are necessarily perfect yet. All of them seem to be great, but proof (dynos) are lacking on all but the Microtech basically (although a Link system was used, but not identified as a Link system for a different dyno reading, but that's another story). Anyway, stay tuned. . .seems we'll have a lot more info on this soon. . .heck I'm even starting to work on one of these systems too. . .it will all be good in the end! (laugh)

Hopefully soon, I should have some data....Then things will be "Perfect!" ;)

The Microtech has a plug and play harness, and is a full stand-alone, without the need for a trigger wheel system.

Man that would be great to have one of those plug in units like AEM, HKS, Turbo XS make... That would make things easy on the turbo cars. :)
