2017 mazda 3 touring
Hi everyone

New here and wanted some thoughts about my car situation. 4 years ago i bought a 2017 Mazda 3 touring and it just feels like a curse lately(mostly this last half of owning it).

2 years ago we had to replace the direct high pressure fuel pump, which was a fun expensive ordeal. To be followed the next year by what my mechanics called “the smallest leak ever”, they spent weeks looking for so it could pass smog(we thought it was the gas cap for a while but 2 different brands didn’t make a difference with that light).

Within the last six months it’s a check engine light that won’t go away? First occurrence i take it to autozone to read the code, nothing, blank screen. Car feels fine, and it goes away on its own and i kinda forget about it.

Last month, maybe a ~300 miles over when i should have taken it for an oil change, another check engine light driving around town. Same predicament, different town/part of the state, same OBD reading of nothing. This time i ask to check my battery and alternator becuase of some quick searches around. Alternator was essentially dead and was running on fumes. New alternator, oil change, and battery later, it turns on again. This time it’s a sensor, we replace that and a belt since they were in there. The next week it turns back on, this time they’re not even seeing any codes so they reset my system and sent me on my way.

Bringing me to today, driving home not a care in the world when all or a sudden i see this agitating and grating orange shape creep onto the dashboard. 3 weeks from the last check engine light. Just not really sure what to think about it.

I miss driving around for fun. If anyone could offer any insight it would be greatly appreciated.
