Is there a way to disable the seat belt chime? Or point out/show me where the speaker is on a 2006 Mazdaspeed6.

Thanks guys.

The way to do it on the Mz3 is: go to the dealer, have them plug up to your computer, and have them turn it off. Unless you have a great relationship with the dealer then they will charge you for the labor (which should be all of about 2 minutes) but they'll still charge you. some dealers refuse to disconnect it as it's a safety risk. Just call around and see.

iF COST OR OTHER CONSIDERATION MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO DO WITH DEALER, YOU CAN LOOK FOR DUMMY MALE ENDS TO BELTS FROM A SALVAGE YARD. iNSERT THEM INTO THE STATIONARY BUCKLE CLASPS. THEY WON'T BE IN THE WAY, AND THEY'LL BE BARELY NOTICABLE.

HOPE I'M NOT AIDING YOUR KILLING YOURSELF OR A PASSENGER. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT PREGNANCY AND/OR OTHER HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS MAY CAUSE THE BELTS TO BE UNSAFE FOR SOME.

SORRY BOUT THE CAPS

I am sure it is a state law anywhere in the USA that you have to have your seat belt on.

All the state laws I've seen (a grand total of about three) do provide a medical exception to the seatbelt requirement. Most require a physician's certification that seatbelt use will constitute a medical difficulty. for example, Louisiana statutes provide exceptions as follows:

Rural letter carrier while on duty

Farm vehicle within 5 miles of the farm

Newspaper delivery person while delivering a regularly published newspaper

Medical or mental disability that prevents the use of a seatbelt

Can anyone take a pic of the speaker location and post?

I only take off my belt if near my garage or mailbox (condos) and once I take off my belt the chimes goes on and gets louder (moving at approx 10 mph). Kinda irritating when talking to others in the car or on the cell. BUT I always buckle up once I leave my condo complex.

I prefer the seat belt light going on instead of the chime. This is the only car I've had that does this.

Thank you again...

It's not that big of a nuisance, especially if you are just around the condo or garage, you should be stopping shortly thereafter anyway so I personally would just tolerate it.

I myself get in the car and the first thing I've always done in all my cars is put my seatbelt on, and the last thing I do after I park and turn the car off is take the seatbelt off, made it a habit and I am glad for it.

in the CX-7 the chime ends after a few seconds,- the reminder light stays lit, but I'm buckled by then.

there's a TSB about disabling this.... it will NOT disable it completely and it is NOT illegal to disable the "seatbelt minder"... the law ONLY requires that the vehicle does the seat belt chime and flash the light when you start the engine, nothing else in the law says anything about what you have to do after that

I disabled this stupid s*** on my 3 myself and it's way better... now it just acts like any other normal car that I've been used to... start the car without the seat belt, it beeps and flashes the light, then nothing else after that... no annoyance while I move the car around the driveway!

warning beeps and lights are for buicks, not mazdas!

+1
And what are you doing on a cell phone when you're supposed to concentrating on saving someone's life... MINE!!! Get off the Damned cell phone! Whatever it is, it'll wait a few minutes.
Or, you can drive w/it, take a BIG chance on killing someone and spend the next several years in jail for vehicular manslaughter. Is it really worth it to you to take that risk?
You're choice, but it's my life. Please remember that.
Recent studies have shown that people talking on a cell phone while driving, drive as poorly as if they've spent the evening drinking. (shocked)
