Please tell me this was my clutch...

Wow that sucks, sounds just like what happened to my car. Went to accelerate but got nowhere, the car was barely able to pick up any speed. Had a tow truck pick up the car and limped it to my friends house so I could work on it. We took it apart and found the clutch was perfect just a bit or wear, it was the diff and boy did it hurt my wallet. I went with the quaife and a custom performance clutch so it wont ever happen again. Cross your fingers but expect the worst. Good luck.

I don't think it's the diff cuz I can accelerate if I BARELY press the gas. But any more than ~5% throttle = instant slippage. I just though it was weird that my clutch has shown no signs of wear til now....then again that could mea it is the LSD :(

To me that sounds like the diff. Clutches wear down, not just sh*t the bed one day. It will slip a little lauching at first, then a little most of the time, then a lot all of the time. Time to break out the wallet...

that sucks im sorry man. (pissed) how many miles do you have on it? is the car still under warrenty?

Same thing happened to SuperSpud and it was the clutch. Best of luck

Same thing happened to me but it was my differential. I could get it to move a little if i barely gave it gas. But that stopped working after a little bit, had to have it towed.

. . . lsd . . .

reason my car hasnt ran in over a year.

however there is some light at the end of your tunnel. if you can do it yourself (please dont try it, thats the other reason mine is so ******) or find a shop to just replace the dif. i have a good one i can sell you.

Hey

I just had the same symptons you had about a few weeks ago. I can almost guarantee it is the diff like in my car. My car has about 72 k on it an out of nowhere something started slipping. I somehow drifted home and into the driveway but I was unable to get out of it to take it to the shop. I had to call a tow truck company. Mazda tore it apart and guess what the diff sheared off where everyone else is failing. I left Mazda with a bill totalling $2068 new record for a shop bill.
New Diff around $400
New Clutch $250
New Rear MM $100
Lots and lots of labor (uknown)
New CV Boots and steer rack boots (uknown)
All the parts I replaced were stock and the diff is the updated one. I guess I'm rolling the dice on that but I couldn't afford anything else. You can pull the transmission out without removing the motor. If you are feeling adventerous go for it but I wasn't and I am not going to be able to help you any. One other thing due to the diff being in the transmission casing I would recomend not moving the car anymore than need be. If there is some metal pieces floating around they could hurt the gears inside and that would mean more $$$. Just remember one thing you love your mazda!

"I'm so tempted to fix and then trade in on the MS3. " Those were the same words I was saying two weeks ago. But its not worth tradining a car in if its not running.

well it sounds like u could have a warped plate. do u do alot of luanching? my diff went 2 days ago, it instantley made me lookat new cars. in the 1 year of owning this msp ive had to pay over 2k in repairs. and none of them due to my driving.. kinda ridiculous
