2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
Hi,
I recently bought a msp with only 52xxx miles on it and i love it. I live in richmond, va and don't know any really lenient car inspection places. So i went to firestone. I failed for not having the middle or left back seatbelts, aftermarket steering wheel (no drivers airbag), o2 sensors failed(both) and i need a drivers side window motor. If anyone has these parts it'd help a ton. But my real question is if i buy universal o2 sensors how difficult is it to install. I am also missing the back 2 speakers and back door speakers and sub, trunk mat and engine cover. But other than that it's pretty clean.

Did you have a cel? Hit a junkyard up and grab a steering wheel off and 3rd gen protege or miata. I have the trunk sub rack and engine cover if you want them. If they are actually bad check rockauto.com and you can order denso OEM still o2 sensors with factory plugs for the same price as autozones universal ones.
I also have a set of sealbets from a 3rd gen protege.

oh and yes the check engine light is there. they say there's an exhaust leak because of the o2 sensors, which i haven't noticed... and how much are you asking for all of what you have?

you wont notice an drivability issues if theres an exhaust leak... maybe a diff tone in the exhaust but that's about it. don't **** with universal 02 sensors unless you have someone put them in for you (oem sensors may cost a little more but its a 2 step process to replace them)

if its just an 02 sensor code (p0171 Im assuming) throwing 02 sensors at it wont fix it... theres a leak in the exhaust throwing off the 02 sensor readings causing the code to be set in the comp

thanks, yeah jummaaneface showed me rockauto and i already ordered the o2 sensors. now it's just getting those installed, pretty easy from what i've seen and read. and getting the other smaller things here and there

you'll need to use your O2 sensor extension that is on the car currently (hopefully) for the rear...the included wire loom from the sensor is pretty short, it won't fit the 2nd o2 sensor without that extension, so don't go throwing stuff away before the replacement, thats all...

It's about a 3 hour drive but pm me and I'll give you the name of a place that will pass it, they have passed my mp3 for both o2 sensors being bad
