My msp only has 1700 miles on it, and it's running like s***. Had the hesitation, so after reading up on the board and reading everyone's opinion, I decided to go in and get the ecu flashed. Now I have less power, more hesitation, I feel like a 16 yr old girl learning how to drive a stick shift, the car jerks, bucks so much. The most power I get is at 1/4 throttle. The engine sounds louder, and runs rougher now.

Is there a possibility that they downloaded the wrong flash? Could the turbo be malfunctioning? I won't be able to take it back in until after christmas some time.

What do you guys think might have happened?

What does "flashed" mean? Re-programmed? By who?

Sorry you are having car problems, that sucks.

Yes, been there done that, theres other threads about this, and this one doesn't need to be here.

No they can't "upload" the wrong flash. The turbo would only have problems that would be immediately recognizable by smoke and fire in your engine bay if it exploded. I think you got what everyone else has... A MSP.

mine is flashed and has run perfect ever since with no hesitation and it actually feels a bit MORE powerful......you must have other issues or the flash didn't take or something.

d... try reseting the ecu. that might help short term. where in charlotte are you? what dealer are you using? pm me if you want.
good luck.

LOL , Your cold turboge. Mine aint doin all that s***. Don't Dis my MSP like that , all though I do need a new fitting on top of the turbo for an oil leak they said they fixed not more than a couple of weeks ago.

Out of the of the 4 months that I have had this car I have less than 2000 miles on it , Does that tell you anything !

Yeah, that you're one of the people that buys a car and keeps it in their garage and never goes out to enjoy it.

LOL , No I just have not had the time t3ase. Most of the time I have had this car I have been on the road.

I usta drive a Big Truck !

It's pretty simple - you got the same flash as everyone else. The simple fact is the benefits of the flash were blown WAY out of proportion. It helps, but it still hesitates. Like Turboage said, welcome to being a MSP owner. Some day we all hope Mazda removes its head from its anus and fixes it. The "band aid" flash was good and timely to help us for the time being - but Mazda still needs to do more.

I am still not flashed, I just don't see a reason to go bug my dealer about it.

yeah, if you're driving pretty normal you'll never notice it......but if you try to get in it really hard you'll hit it right before you're about to go into 2nd hear when getting into the higher revs......the flash fixed mine though....nice and smooth..........

Maybe they should use a Dodge ECU instead of that POS Ford one cuz my SRT has about the smoothest and most linear power delivery of anything I've driven.

Like girth said, welcome to being an MSP owner. I know what you're going through. My MSP does the same crap, and I've had it 'flashed'. It didn't help at all. It still runs like a p.o.s.

Yay it's yet another I hate my MSP thread.

Fair-weather fans... grumble...

Sorry man, but that's what happens when someone buys a brand new car and, heaven forbid, expects it to drive like one.

Haha, great way to put it! Too true.:D

Its called research, if anyone had looked a little bit they could have found out that the Speed has these problems, so why did they buy it? Mine sucked before the flash, now that i've had it done it runs great, i've had it almost three months and it probably turned over 5000 miles today (i'm not driving it right now, i've driving my mom's new Liberty for a few days)

I really shouldn't have put it that way. Chalk it up to frustration over the numerous threads that start out I hate my MSP or whatever and it tends to be over the exact same issues that many other threads have been over.

The MSP owners are getting a really bad reputation on this forum as a whole and that is directly linked to the fact that it is MSP owners who tend to ask the exact same questions over and over again in thread after thread.

In regards to this thread it really isn't the same thing that others have stated before. If I was having that problem I would be beating the dealer's door in. I don't think it has much to do with flash. Sounds to me like he is bleeding boost off somewhere which might be messing with the MAF or that his emissions control sytem might have a vacuum line loose somewhere.

Heres the problem!
How can 2 of the same car with the same ECU program run totaly differently, one hesitates and the other does not?
THen when both cars are reprogramed, WITH THE SAME PROGRAM, how can they again, run completely differently.

I still, as I always have, suspect there is more to this story then we know. What if this is all do to something just being commonly out of spec? God knows most dealerships will never put in the time to find it. What if driving style of the owner triggers different habbits in the ECU causeing the stumble. This would be all but imposible to document.

With the advanced timing an leaned fuel of the flash, why is the car still hesitating. THe only thing that makes sense to me is the knock sensors were "overtweaked". I know very little about engine control systems, I will admit. However, if somehow in the ECU program it judges driving habbits and starts to lower the trigger limits of the Knock sensor then, atleast in my mind, that might account for what is going on.

Ofcoarse I have no proof, and I am likely very wrong, but none the less, there is more going on here.
