REX is spoken word abbreviation for a specific model of the RX7. So when you say "REX" people know you have an FD with the [size=-1]20B-REW swap[/size]. That's all. How it got started, who knows, but I do know thats where it started.

who gives a s***. WRX owners frequently call them rexes. when i had my rx7 i called it a rex as well.
