Anyone have any pics of a Speed3 without the door trims on it, also how easy are they to get off and did you notice a color difference after they were removed?

They are held on w/ double sided tape, Make sure you heat up the glue before you try to peel them off. The sooner you remove them the less faded it will be.

I would NOT recommend using glue remover or a heat gun. Simply pull an edge up slowly then gently start to peel it off.

I took mine off last weekend with nothing more than a Zip Tie used to get under the edge to pull it up where I could get hold of it. It litterally took me about 1m to do all the doors.

I then claybared to get any specs off and waxed it. Easy. The glue remover and / or heat gun will cause the tape to come off on the car MORE rather than less. I had only a couple real tiny places where the glue stuck and I simply just rolled it off with my finger.

FYI - It was about 50 to 60deg outside when I did mine.

I agree. There's no need whatsoever for solvents. Just use your fingers to rub off residual adhesive, wash, and wax.

I got 3 of 4 of mine off with just my fingertips. I couldn't get under the fourth, but all of them came off with minimal residual adhesive. This was in sixty-something degree heat, in the sun. I can't remember what I used to lift the other, but I can tell you that the grocery bag thing failed.

The double-sided sticky can try to leave the trim and stay on the car, but you can just help it along with spare fingers.

I was thinking about collecting as many of these I can from take-offs and have, say, 3 or 4 rows! Anyone interested in mine?

The search tool is your friend.

I'd ignore the complicated procedure you find in the "How To" section and follow the recommendation here.

By the way, you can always put them back on.

Yeah, i took off all of my badges and painted the "flyingV" (front and rear) black on my black mica MS3...it is nice. I think that it looks a lot better without the MazdaSpeed3 badge. Besides, now it is truely a creeper.

And today, while waxing, i noticed that my door trim was coming off on the passenger rear! I guess those are coming off now too... I just wish that i had noticed it and taken them off before i waxed today!! Oh well, i guess that i will have to wax it again next weekend.

here is my old 2004 with out them

I was worried about increased door dings without the trim pieces, but I was looking at the car today and they seem too low on the door to offer any protection at all. I think mine may be coming off too.

Yea they offer zero protection.. My old three got dings all over it, no where near the trim pieces....

I wouldn't say zero protection, but they certainly offer very little. I have two dings now, and I park carefully. One is high up, and I know it was caused by an SUV door. The other is small, and around where my molding was. I don't regret taking them off though, as I like the slick look... I'm just going to park even more carefully always.

Just be prepared to always walk a far distance when parking, its better for your car and you'll get some exercise.

Here's mine:

thanks for the pics. I think when it warms up I'll take them off... and as for parking far I always do as well, the GF hates it but whatever she doesnt make the payments :P

the hatch looks better with the moldings

my opinion of course

Yea I'm kinda thinking that too.. I'll probably leave them on.. Looks a little more aggressive with them..Yea I'm always flip floppin'.. ;)
