Pics of Custom Aluminum Wind Splitter

Here are just a couple of pics of my new custom aluminum wind splitter. It is made of 1/8" thick aluminum plate and installs without any mods to your car. I used all the existing screws holes that hold up the plastics guards underneath the front end. I just replaced the OEM screws with all stainless steel screws and added a 1/2" in length to all the screws. I'm going to try and make a second one with little wings on the sides to camouflage the slope of the wind splitter. It slopes a little from the front to back as does the bottom of the front bumper. The front lip of the wind splitter is covered with a black rubber edge molding material that I think really sets it off. Please tell me what you guys think.

Maybe you should make a template of the windspiltter on paper and be willing to mail it out to those who would like to make one for themselves .

How about a Windsplitter / Gauge Ring Combo Deal ? *nudge nudge*

Good stuff, Dave. How about the ring around the shifter. Have you finished those? I'am still interested.

They look nice...i like it...

Ya...i've been waiting for the "ring around the shifter" for my 5 speed. The windsplitter looks nice... have u thought about making some downforcers like the ones that DG has???

Damnit, you beat me to it. Rishie was talking about having something similar made in Carbon Fiber. Looks like I'll be taking a trip to Home Depot to pick up some aluminum.

I know this might have been answered already, but what does the wind splitter do? I could mass produce them all day out of 7075-T6 Alum all day, and shine them up on a buffing wheel. Also I can make them out of stainlees.

While most are for astetic purposes (stock MP3 splitter), some when placed in the correct location (possibly DaveB's) will actually produce downforce. I say possibly because most of the really effective downforcers are a pretty close to the ground such as the one found on Wheelguru of Auto R&D's. He has a Autoexe front lip with the stock MP3 splitter placed on the botton of it. Granted it will probably break off under heavy street driving. DaveB's on the other hand, from what it looks like in the pics, is placed a little over an inch further forward than the stock MP3 splitter. So it would be more functional than the stock MP3's splitter. If I make one, it will be similar to DaveB's, but extend further back underneath the car like Rishie was going to do. Bringing it closer to the oil pan.

hey my borthday is in 8 days how about a gauge ring, shift ring, downforcer combo at a good deal eh DaveB?

=)

Anyway I think the template for the splitter would be uber if you would be willing to hook it up, I have a home depot like 5 minutes away and like doing my own work, but yours is very very nice.

also what did you use to cut the aluminum sheet with? certain gauge cutters? or a saw of some sort? and yes the rubber edge sets it out very well.

Wow

Dave,

You should work for Mazda...your modifications look very professional...

What's this I hear about a shifter ring?? I'll take that and this splitter...

That is a nice looking splitter Dave. Although I think that would look good on a silver pro only.

BTW your P5 looks great!

Dave I think a lot of our guys will want to run those lips. Let me know what's up. Maybe we can start offerring your product lines.

Thanks, Rishie
