Picking up my MSP Thurs!!(PIC POSTED!)

So whats up, I'm new, and I'm finally purchasing a mica Black 03 on Thursday and I could not be more stoked.

I was planning on keeping it bone stock as it will be my DD.... but after reading the posts here the past week, you SOB's already got me planning and scheming *rubs hands together*

But in proper n00b fashion, I will probably be on here constantly, asking obvious questions and flipping out over random problems or quirks.

Do yourself a favor and keep it at low boost and do all supporting mods to stay under 10psi or you will be looking to donate organs to keep up with your habit!!

Oh yeah...welcome!!

Too bad you missed out on the Turbolife front mount group buy. If you can find one get it.

Thanks for the welcome!

HeY, wut intak shud I put in It? j/k

My first goal is to replace the piping, add an intake, and exhaust. Im going to drive it a few days and see how the clutch feels and might go ahead upgrade
that first. It's at 95,000 miles so its probably due for a new one.

Im still debating on a FMIC or a SMIC.... I do not want to do any cutting, and almost all FMIC's do.. also, there is a price factor.... Im a traveling musician... so funds are limited to certain seasons... right now Im at my prime investing moment.. so Im still trying to figure out the most effective cost vs. performance vs. necessity ratio.

Also, this kind of a N00b question, but I've been looking around the aftermarket parts section/protege garage, trying to find a turbo back exhaust... but everyone who's made one doesn't seem to make them anymore. I am missing something? is it right in front of me?

I dont plan on running more than 10psi(plan is the operative word :)) but I'm not going to touch the boost for awhile.

The Vibrant isnt a True Turbo Back, the only true one is GHL,

If u want a short ram intake you should get the TurboHoses SRI, its a great quality kit, and if u go with a size mount Turbo Hoses makes them, they have a V1 and a V2 of both hardpipes and SMIC, and ofcorse the V2 is better :D

Welcome to the board. You'll love the car. I know i love mine. Just start off slowly with the mods. Mazda parts are not cheap like hondas.

welcome to the boards. first off i would say you should read up on the hesitation problem with the stock ecu's

Thanks for the advice! I'll check into that.

Also thank you sailinMSP for the suggestion about the ECU, I've been looking these boards over for the past week and a half once I knew I was going to buy it and made sure that I was up to speed w/ MSP quirks and news.

Also, I am located in Louisville Ky, Southern IN area. I'm going to update my profile once I get the car and take some pictures.

one more day... ..... the excitement is killing me........

Congrats on the pending purchase. Welcome to the MSP family. You could also just go custom on the exhaust piping and add the muffler of your choosing, Greddy, HKS, Magnaflow etc. Since it has high miles you might also want to throw in a fresh set of plugs, pcv and airfilter. Split Second AFC V2 will cure the hesitation issue caused by the stock tuning. Exedy makes a good replacement clutch option. The possibilities are endless and limited only by your goals and budget. Enjoy it.

Thanks for the good advice!

For funsies.. Im going to share how I lucked into this car. I owned a 95 civic that got up to 230,000 miles and I sold as it started to fall apart. From that car, I bought a zx2(...i know....) for really cheap b/c I needed a reliable car quick..

A month after I bought the zx2, a guy did an illegal u-turn on the interstate and followed it with a 180 deg spin into my lane and totaled my car. b/c of the great deal that I initially received on the ZX2, insurance granted me almost double what I paid, giving me the exact amount for the MSP. Being that I DESPISED that ZX2 and the MSP is my dream ride. I'd like to call it a simple twist of fate....*knocks on wood*

Not that you guys really needed to know..nor care.... Im just STOKKKKKKKKKKKKKED for tomorrow.
