Picked up my 08.5 CWP GT yesterday - Love it!

you can see it everytime you walk up to your car but ok... if you can live with it then cool! personally though... if I was in the military and the MPs got on me about something so trivial.... we'd have some issues. it's like being a cop.... maybe you roll through a stop sign while off duty or cruise through a yellowish red light. think the cop that pulls you over (who you obviously know) is gonna ticket you? he better not! but hey... enjoy the car!!! MS3s kick ass

I'm in the Air Force and have to go through a secured gate every day where military police enforce state/local laws. Trust me, I'm not going to get away without running a front plate. I've had them bother me before about it and honestly, it's just not worth it to me anymore. It's not like I can see it when I'm driving anyway. Yes, I hate front plates also, but I've learned to live with it.

haha...i never got asked about that going on base at camp lejeune, NC (a state that does require front plates). in DE front plates aren't required, and neither was a NC inspection so i never removed by illegal tints(usa)

Yeah, well I guess each base is different. The last two bases I've been at were anal about front license plates. I was running without a front plate at my last base in North Dakota, where front plates are required, and the cop used to walk to the back of the car to see if I had ND plates (which I did) and then would bust my balls about not having a front plate.

I've got a temporary base pass right now until my new registration comes in and I've got my old plates on the car because I did a plate transfer, but there's a temp registeration sticker in the back window. Well the MP went to the back of the car to read the temp tag and then proceeded to question me about why I had plates on the car, but have temp tag. This is what I'm going to deal with everyday until I get a DoD sticker on the windshield. Maybe it has something to do with being a pilot/officer. They like to bust our nuts more for some reason. (uhm)

Past S2k owner here as well. You couldn't find two different cars than the MS3 and S2k. The S2k was a lot of fun on the highway and the twisties but felt anemic around town.

The MS3 doesn't track or handle quite as well as the MS3 but it's torque makes it a blast around town. Very little throttle effort to get up to speed and or beyond it.

Btw, I see your from South Jersey as well- I'm in Williamstown.

The S2k was by far the most fun car I've ever owned, but I had to get rid of it. My commute to work grew a lot longer and I just couldn't take the road/wind noise and crappy gas mileage the S2k was getting anymore, so I got rid of it. I was only averaging about 23-24mpg with it, which for an NA 4-banger, was kind of sad. It wasn't much of a factor until I started driving 90 miles roundtrip to work, so I wound up buying a used '05 RSX Type-S, which I figured I'd have for a while until I found out that a baby seat didn't fit too well in it after we had the baby, but I guess it gave me an excuse to get a new car. :)

I'm in West Deptford, so not too far away from you. I actually bought the car from Mazda of Turnersville.

This is one hell of a car for the $23.6k I payed for it. I've come from a 2004 Honda S2000 and then a 2005 Acura RSX Type-S and this car is a close tie in fun factor with the S2000 in its own special way. I had to go to a 4 door because we just had a baby and this car seems to be perfect for what I need. Hauls the bacon too. :D

Here are so pics. Let the modding begin! (thumb)
I'm looking for the same deal myself, 08.5 CWP GT.

What options did you get at that $23.6k price? Anything?

That pearl white sure is an interesting color. I love the look, but wonder how that would hold up over time.

Sort of what I feel about my black mica, it looks interesting, but I am somewhat doubtful it will be that nice in a few years.

white IS the BEST color in the Ms3 (imho). Im going to buy CWP when i get finally get mine!

Hopefully it does hold up. I think I'm going to spend the cash for a clear bra install on the whole front end because I drive a lot on the highway, which subjects the car to a lot of rock chips. I had a '99 Miata and if the paint on the new Mazda's is anything like it used to be, it's not very thick at all. My Miata looked like it had one coat on top of primer and it was not a durable finish what so ever. Mazda charges $200 extra for CWP. I'm hoping this is because it's thicker, more durable paint, but I'm probably smoking the good stuff. (hippy)

^ its not thicker I can tell you that, I had my car for 1000 miles before I got my clear bra put on, the white is pretty thin and i had a couple paint chips on the front of mine before I got the clear bra. My advice is if your going to do it, do it as soon as you get the car.

^^ Wow, that stuff looks good, but $820?!?! I don't think it'd be much more to repaint the whole front end! Unfortunately, there are no Avery installers inside of an hour and a half from me, which I find hard to believe. EDIT: Just found a 3M installer close by though. I'll have to get a quote. Honestly though, I didn't expect it to cost that much. Not sure it's worth it!

sort of random but I've been wondering for a while... anyone know what that round cutout is on the left hand side of the front bumper?

the tow hook is behind it, thats what it is for, just pop out the cap and the tow thing should screw right in there to the frame

oh yes and I LOVE that you put silverstar lights in the front turn signals! That was my FIRST mod as well... a must over the ugly orange ones! Now... if they would have left out the stupid orange reflector that would have been much better, dont think that can be removed tho
