Petition to Mazdaspeed

Hey guys I hope you're all enjoying your MSPs. I was just thinking, with the amount of people we have on this thread, do you think we could possible make a petition, somehow signed by all the members who would be interested, and send it to Mazdaspeed, petitioning for them to make a few performance parts for the MSP while still maintaining our warranties? These parts could include a FMIC, 2.5" AND 3" turbo back systems with high flow cats, and whatever else we could get them to do. I'm guessing they would be reluctant to make a boost controller that would maintain the warranty though. Any ideas?

Sounds like a good idea. We need more parts that are covered under warranty. umm a boost gauge gets rid of your warranty???

maybe he meant controller
like a preset unit that raises it a few psi..........

o ok i was like wtf when reading that because i just installed a boost gauge and i didnt think that had anything to do with warranty.

I am in the process of buying a MSP and would ike to know if there are any aftermarket parts that I can purchase that would not void the warranty.

Yeah my bad - I did mean a Boost Controller - I can't see why any gauges would void the warranty - as a matter of fact Mazda should encourage it 'cause how else will we monitor the engine parameters? I'll edit that now. Sorry for the mixup.

A K&N drop in box filter, and exhaust system, etc shouldn't void the warranty.

If I were to mod my car, I would simply choose mods that are easy to install and don't require any alteration or modication to the vehicle. For instance, I would pick an intake that didn't require cutting, drilling, or modifying any parts on the car. I'd invest the 15-20 minutes and swap it out everytime I go to the dealer.

From what I've read the JoeP MBC can be removed with no evidence.

Just my suggestion.

instead of asking them to make mazdaspeed parts ( which ain't going to happen) start bitching about all the press that was out with the Mazdaspeed before it hit the roads, and that Mazda themselves said they WERE going to come out with Mazdaspeed Performance addons that would not void the warranty. I guess that they thought we would forget

as long as they cant prove it directly caused the problem aftermarket parts dont viod the warranty. like mazda couldnt refuse to fix a burnt out water pump because i have an intake or anything

That would be sweet. I want to put an intake on my car, not hard to swap in the stock one, but with an exhaust, that would be difficult. I need some hard evidence to tell my parents that an exhaust would not affect my warrenty for all the other parts of my engine.

there are a ton of bad ass performance parts (CAI, MBC, etc.) that would make your car run awesome but will either not have anyhting to do with your warranty or u can pull them out really easily and go back to stock.

That's what I was thinking, if I put a boost controller on, how on earth could they tell that the vacuum lines were tampered with, I can't think of any way.

Don't worry, I'll be getting a gauge first.

ANYTHING YOU DO TO YOUR CAR CAN/WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY!!!!!
Believe me I know........for ex.....
Boost gauge, caused vacuum leak, caused lean condition, caused detonation, caused blown motor.....
K&N filter, caused unfiltered air to go into motor, caused maf sensor to sense lean condition, caused unnormal piston ring wear, caused motor to be blown......
Aftermarket/incorrect oil (synthetic for ex.), caused premature bearing wear, caused piston slap, caused blown motor......
I know I sound alittle off the wall......but it is the truth.
Oh just to tell you, I have aboost gauge, use syntec oil and also have a K&N...Just telling you what can happen

a petition to mazda for more products just aint gonna happen. however, a petition to mazda about fixing things that are already wrong with are cars is more likely.

guys there is a law out there called the magnusson moss warranty act.. Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) . For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov. For additional information,

Jeff!

Aren't you the guy who just came on here and told us you were a Mazdaspeed Tech? If that's the case, what you're saying is an unfortunate reality because I would believe firsthand that you see exactly what happens between the service dept. (primarily the manager) and the customers re: warranty claims. Scary, but true. You should be safe though! I just wish you were in South Florida.
